Set within the grounds of a working farm and surrounded by beautiful Cumbrian countryside, this delightful cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway. With the Lake District National Park a short drive away and the stunning sandy beaches of Solway within walking distance, there’s plenty to do, whatever your mood. An additional bed makes it a great choice for small families, and two dogs are also welcome here, meaning nobody needs to be left at home.
This one-bedroom rural retreat is one of three enjoying a peaceful location on the outskirts of Allonby. It has a welcoming feel from the moment you arrive, with many traditional touches including exposed beams, which add to its character. The stone fireplace with gas fire takes centre stage in the cosy lounge, where you can put your feet up after a busy day of sightseeing. The dining table in this room is also perfect for any romantic meals you may fancy rustling up in the contemporary kitchen. The double bedroom is both warm and inviting, making it the ideal place to rest and recharge, before you wake up to those beautiful views. Enjoy some al fresco drinks and dining as you relax in your fully enclosed garden, while the four-legged members of the family explore.
Stretch your legs on Allonby’s sandy beach before enjoying a drink in the local pub, which is 1 mile from the cottage. Cockermouth (10.5 miles) is the birthplace of William Wordsworth and packed with independent shops, restaurants and galleries. Pull on your walking boots or take to two wheels to enjoy one of the many trails that surround the cottage. If you’re feeling adventurous, head deeper into the national park and take on Skiddaw (20 miles) which is a great climb for those looking to take on higher peaks.
