Shops, pubs and tea rooms are within walking distance and the coast is a short drive away, giving you plenty of options whatever your mood.
In a raised position overlooking the river, this welcoming and homely property is the ideal place to unwind after a day of exploring the Lake District. The open-plan living space is both light and bright, with a well-equipped kitchen should you feel like rustling up a snack to enjoy at the dining table or outside on the decked area. The lounge is spacious and comfortable, with a sofa and chairs providing a snuggly spot to unwind with a film and a glass of wine. The three bedrooms are an inviting prospect at the end of a busy day and are both relaxing and restful. Doors lead outside from the lounge onto a decked area with table and chairs. Fire up the BBQ, pour yourself something cold, and sit back and take in the wonderful views across to the river.
Famed for being the birthplace of William Wordsworth, Cockermouth is packed with independent shops, galleries and some superb places to eat. Wordsworth’s former home is also open to the public. Pack a picnic and explore Bassenthwaite Lake (11 miles) which is one of the largest lakes in the national park. Crummock Water (8 miles) is also a super place for a day trip, with gentle strolls or more adventurous hikes on offer. If you’re craving the coast, the harbour town of Maryport (8 miles) has a super aquarium and museums.
