Located in the pretty hamlet of Far Sawrey and oozing old world charm, this beautiful cottage is a perfect Lakeland hideaway for larger groups of friends and family. Accommodating seven guests and two holiday hounds, it’s surrounded by countryside and offers easy access to some superb walks. The local pub is a short stroll away and the popular chocolate box village of Hawkshead is just a 5-minute drive.
This delightful home has been converted from two smaller cottages to create a spacious and welcoming home. Traditional features add to its character, cleverly combining the modern comforts you’d expect. You’ll find everything you need in the contemporary kitchen, whether you’re making a hearty lunch or an evening snack, which can be enjoyed either in the breakfast room or the more formal dining room. Your guests will waste no time in settling down to relax in front of the original range, with open fire and bread oven, which adds to the charm of the homely lounge. The four bedrooms, which are accessed via stairs at each end of the cottage, are inviting and cosy, ensuring everyone gets a restful night. Enjoy some al fresco dining in the pretty south-facing garden, which has a lawn and patio area to enjoy, as well as a stream running along the bottom.
Pack a picnic and explore the many walks and trails which run past your front door. The cobbled streets of Hawkshead (3 miles) are a delight to wander around, before stopping off at one of its tea rooms or cafes. Don’t miss the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses many of the author’s original drawings and illustrations. Try out canoeing, paddle boarding or rowing at Coniston Water (7.5 miles) or for something a little less energetic, enjoy a cruise on Lake Windermere (2.5 miles).
