Located on the edge of the popular village of Hawkshead, this charming Grade II listed 18th-century cottage is a true rural retreat. Oozing character, it provides a welcoming and homely base for your holiday with accommodation for up to six people in three bedrooms. There are some superb walks and cycle trails on the doorstep and two dogs are welcome too, meaning nobody needs to be left at home.
The property is both elegant and stylish, with furnishings which create a homely feel. The cosy lounge has a traditional appeal with plenty of comfortable seating for you all to unwind on while the open fire crackles away. On chillier evenings, get the open fire going in the dining room as your guests sit down to enjoy a meal together. Whether you’re making a picnic or rustling up a snack, the pretty kitchen is well-equipped to cater for all your needs. Head upstairs when it’s time to rest, where you’ll find three inviting, cottage-style bedrooms which provide a welcome spot to catch up on some sleep. Get the BBQ fired up in the enclosed patio outside and enjoy a little al fresco dining as the sun goes down.
Hawkshead is proud of its associations with Beatrix Potter and the gallery displaying some of her early illustrations is not to be missed. It’s within walking distance of the cottage, along with some pubs and shops. Explore Lake Windermere (5 miles) and Coniston Water (4.5 miles) either on foot or by water, by hopping on a pleasure cruise. The more energetic will love trying out some of the water sports on offer here. For some great woodland trails and a chance to try Segway riding, head to Grizedale Forest, 3.5 miles away.
