This quaint cottage is located in the tranquil village of Bouth and is a superb base for couples and families looking to explore the beautiful southern lakes and fells. The rooms in this delightful home are light and airy, with comfortable furnishings and traditional touches giving it real character. Stairs lead up to the bright and spacious open-plan living space, with the lounge area set under heavy oak beams and a pitched ceiling. The attractive kitchen will keep the most discerning of cooks happy, with everything needed to rustle up a tasty meal which can then be enjoyed together around the dining table. French doors also lead outside from the kitchen. The house has two cosy double bedrooms which are designed with your rest and relaxation in mind. One is en-suite and located on this level, while the other is on the lower floor along with the main bathroom. Outside, enjoy some al fresco dining in the small terraced patio garden, which boasts some stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

For an active family day out, head to the National Trust’s Fell Foot Park (5 miles) where there are adventure playgrounds, lake swimming and boat hire available. Lake Windermere (4 miles) is also a must-see, with some scenic walks to enjoy around its shores, as well as regular cruises. Fantastic stay in a lovely cottage. The nearby pub (The White Hart) is very friendly with a great atmosphere and great food. Perfect for dog walking in the surrounding lanes and woods. The mezzanine floor in the cottage was out of bounds - this didn't affect our stay, but it's worth considering if you think you might need more space.

We had a wonderful stay in Ash Cottage. A lovely, cosy house, fully equipped at a beautiful location. A cottage with two master bedrooms and two bathrooms. Just perfect for two couples.
