Grab a bite to eat in one of Cartmel’s fabulous pubs or restaurants, and don’t miss the chance to try the village’s famous sticky toffee pudding. The southern reaches of Lake Windermere are 7 miles from here, where you can pull on your hiking boots to wander around its shores or hop on a boat to see it from the water. Eggerslack Woods (2 miles) is great for a light day’s walking with the dog, while beach lovers should head to the pretty Grange-over-Sands, 2.5 miles away.
