Located in the popular village of Near Sawrey, this charming cottage is a lovely base for larger groups of friends or family. In its previous life, it was the village shop and features in Beatrix Potter’s Tale of Ginger and Pickles. Sleeping eight guests and two dogs, a games room is a welcome addition for guests of all ages, while the local pub is within walking distance and the nearest shops 2 miles away.

This elegant four-bedroom property has a welcoming and homely feel. The spacious lounge offers a stylish and comfortable place to relax and unwind, with inviting sofas and a wood burner to snuggle in front of. The dining room is open-plan to the lounge and is furnished with a large glass table for sociable meals together. A further reception room takes the form of a games den with computer consoles and a DVD, which is a great retreat for those looking for a challenge. If you’re in the mood for a spot of cooking, the bright kitchen is well-equipped for all your needs. Stairs lead up to the first floor where three bedrooms are to be found, each with its own restful theme. A further set of stairs lead to the attic and a colourful en-suite bedroom, with some reduced head-height due to the sloping ceiling. Fire up the BBQ in the small patio to the rear of the property.

Explore Hill Top, the former home of Beatrix Potter, which is located in the village. Hop on a boat and cross Lake Windermere (2 miles) to Bowness, a bustling town with a good range of shops and eateries. Walk to Claife Heights (2.5 miles) where its viewing platform looks out over the lake. For some fantastic woodland trails, Grizedale Forest (2.5 miles) is a must.

Lovely cottage and very spacious with room for a large group. The log burner was welcomed as we had a very wet week. There is parking for 3 cars although 2 is ideal. Kitchen was well equipped and there is a lovely small courtyard when it stops raining. 2 good pubs in walking distance and a great location.

Meadowcroft is a very comfortable & well equipped house. we always enjoy our holidays here. We like the village & the walks up onto Claife Heights .

Notwithstanding the above that totally ruined our experience then the offer is good . Perhaps a review of on site car parking would help Sorry to make the negative comments above but feel you should be aware of same . This reflects out answer below because save that it is a lovely property in a quiet beautiful location

Excellent holiday and such a pretty location. The house is well equipped and comfortable and wouldnt hesitate to return here when we come to the Lake District again.

Lovely cottage and fully equipped, we had a really comfortable stay and hope to return to it in the future. We were made to feel at home with lots of nice touches. Only problem was we couldnt find the visitors book to record our satisfaction

This is a lovely cottage and much larger than initially expected. The kitchen was very well equipped even for a professional chef like me. The two sitting rooms although next door to each other provided very separate and noise resistant space for different groups. Altogether a great holiday let and one we will most definitely return to.
