Offering contemporary and cosy accommodation, this beautifully converted former coach house is the ultimate romantic retreat. In a peaceful location and surrounded by meadows and fells, it’s a chic hideaway enjoying stunning views across to the Old Man of Coniston. Energetic guests can also enjoy shared use of the owner’s on-site gym, before strolling to the local pub to refuel, 1.5 miles away.
The cottage is in a small hamlet in the grounds of the owner’s home and has a modern, fresh feel throughout. Several steps lead down to the entrance, where an internal staircase takes you up and into the living area on the first floor. This is a stylish space, which is flooded with light thanks to the large patio door which leads out onto your private decked balcony. Cosy up together in front of the wood burner and enjoy a film with a glass of wine. If you’ve decided to dine in, then you’ll find everything you need in the cottage-style kitchen to whip up a meal for two. The utility room is also a handy space for storing bikes and muddy boots. The inviting and restful bedroom is on this level, finished in muted colours and enjoying far-reaching countryside views, which are a joy to wake up to. In addition to the balcony, there’s also a private patio area where you can get the BBQ going and enjoy some al fresco dining. The internet is super-fast fibre broadband so great for connectivity.
Just 1.5 miles from the cottage is the southern shore of Coniston Water. Here, enjoy scenic walks, a ride on a restored Victorian steamer or hire a boat or paddleboard from the boating centre. For a more challenging hike, the Old Man of Coniston is 7.5 miles away. For some great pubs and tea rooms, stroll through the cobbled streets of Hawkshead, 10 miles away.
