Cartmel is a destination for keen foodies, so be sure to try out some of the well-regarded restaurants and food shops, as well as its famous sticky toffee pudding, which comes from here. Pack a picnic and head to the beach at Grange-over-Sands (2.5 miles) for a taste of the coast. Water sports, scenic walks and boat trips are all available at Lake Windermere (6.5 miles) while the Fell Foot country park (6 miles) is a lovely place to chill out.
