Located in the peaceful village of Finsthwaite on the south-western reach of Lake Windermere, this fantastic cottage is brimming with charm and character. There are many scenic walks on the doorstep and its proximity to the lake makes this a great choice for those looking to get back to nature. Accommodating four people, it would ideally suit couples or a small family looking for a peaceful retreat.

With exposed beams, period features and antique furniture throughout, this property offers a real home-from-home, in a tranquil location. The open-plan living area is both spacious and inviting, with a high pitched ceiling and wooden flooring. Gather around the open fire on chillier evenings, as you unwind on the comfortable sofas for an evening of relaxation. A large table in the dining area is suitable for more formal dinners, while the table in the farmhouse-style kitchen is great for breakfast and snacks. This room is reached via a small flight of steps which lead down from the living room. From here, double doors open into a sunny conservatory which is a delightful additional space for curling up with a good book or enjoying your morning coffee. A restful en-suite double bedroom is on the ground floor, while up a winding staircase you’ll find the en-suite master bedroom, another pretty and calming room. Step outside from the conservatory and take a seat in the large garden, which is dissected by a small beck coursing down over little waterfalls.

We loved staying here. The unique charm of the well appointed cottage made our holiday extra special. The garden is beautiful and very well maintained. Everything is spotlessly clean and has oodles of character (see if you can count all the ducks!). Plenty of parking for 2 cars, and the little stream in the garden was a lovely surprise. A cavernous barn extension, filled with many quirky belongings and paintings. Very spacious kitchen with large dining table and bedrooms/bathroom facilities were warm and inviting. Gardens and immediate surroundings were both beautiful and very peaceful.

We expected the property to be lovely and it surpassed expectations. Absolutely stunning with so much character, interesting artwork and furnishings. High quality, well planned interior design. It was a pleasant change to have an abundance of sockets, lights and side tables. My thanks to the owners for opening this property to renters.

The Barn was full of character in a lovely location from which to explore the area. The property is a little quirky in its layout but you get used to it, bearing in mind the owners use it as a home. This is lovely Barn conversion don't expect lots of mod cons.
