Really enjoyed staying at Hole House. Feels remote but ideally situated to access Ambleside and Hawkshead quickly by car. Or easy walk to Hawkshead. Lovely old cottage, so windows are fairly small, ceilings and door frames are low (for those over six foot) downstairs, upstairs the floors are uneven, but we loved the traditional feel of this old cotRead moretage, the stone stairs, the coat hooks in the hallway. Kitchen well equipped, comfy living room, both bathrooms are a high standard. Hide

We know it is in a slippery spot but the access road is sometimes in need of a little attention. We slid a bit where it was wearing away.

We had a lovely family break and the setting was absolutely stunning, the cottage is very quirky and quaint but really needs a good deep clean, spider webs everywhere, even in the cupboards, the work surfaces hadn't been properly cleaned and although the furniture was comfortable and modern the property itself could do with upgrading. The driveway Read morewas a challenge but we adjusted to it. A real shame as the area is fantastic but wouldn't book again due to the tired state of the cottage. Hide

We chose this cottage for a family get together because it was close to a daughters cottage. This was the best thing since we were able to make use of her home and outdoor seating. We had a fabulous stay. Cottage was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We have a 4x4 so no issues with the steep drive. The welcome pack was lovely and much appreciated. The best are really comfortable. The views are amazing. Look forward to returning.

Beautiful old cottage in a stunning location. The drive is tricky and steep, owners flattened it while we were there as it was very rutted. Thanks. Cottage could use an overall upgrade internally, feels a bit unloved. Basic equipment, no smart tv, mattresses hard. If you just need a base it be great, if you want to spend time in there (winter monthRead mores) it's lacking. Sorry I don't like leaving negative comments but it could be so much better. Hide

We loved Hole House! It was great to meet the helpful, friendly owner who gave us lots of tips and local info. The cottage was so quirky and characterful as well as being really clean and comfortable - and those amazing views - Wow! Although beautifully peaceful and secluded, Wray is located within easy reach of places like Hawkshead, Sawrey, AmbleRead moreside and Windermere. We really appreciated the generous and imaginative welcome pack. We had a fantastic week and would very much like to return! Hide

Comfortable stay. Ambleside is 15min drive and Windermere is 30 min drive. I think Ideal for family holiday to stay in. Nearest walking routes 5-10 min drive. There was construction next door so view was obstructed.
