Escape to the heart of the Lake District National Park and call the quaint village of Hawkshead, home. Steeped in history surrounding Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth, this charming village and its cobbled streets are home to some of their haunts, and there are many scenic spots to visit nearby, including Lake Windermere (5 miles). Sleeping four guests across two rooms and welcoming two of your four-legged friends, head out for adventures with all the family or reunite with friends at this humble abode.
Stepping inside, hang up coats and store boots in the hall. For a freshen up and a warming mug of tea, the shower room and kitchen both sit on the ground floor so you can feel refreshed before heading upstairs. Exposed walls and beams add character to the kitchen, making it a lovely place in which to spend time experimenting with flavours or cooking up family favourites; after plating up at the table, take a tipple or two outside and bask in the last of the warm air. Upstairs, in the lounge, you can get cosy on the two beautiful sofas the wood burner-effect electric fire throws heat into the space. Rich in colour, and with a comfortable sofa, the snug leads off from the lounge and is a great quiet spot in which to watch a film or curl up with a book. With a bedroom on each floor, rest your head and enjoy a truly peaceful night’s sleep. There is roadside parking available and two permits allocated.
Stroll the winding streets of Hawkshead and pop into one of the cafes or pubs for a bite to eat or a morning coffee before visiting the National Trust’s Beatrix Potter Gallery and Hawkshead (less than a mile) and Hill Top (2.5 miles) for a family-friendly day out. For a day on the water, this home is wonderfully located just 5 miles from the largest lake in England, Lake Windermere.
