Fantastically positioned in the pretty village of Portinscale, this gorgeous abode is surrounded by places to explore. Sleeping six guests across three bedrooms, escape with your adventurous friends and family members and head out to scenic spots including Derwentwater Marina (less than half a mile), Skiddaw (6 miles) and Ullswater (17.5 miles). Return home from days in the great outdoors and enjoy a coffee from the machine whilst cosying up by the pebble effect electric fire.

Arrive at this charming bolthole, pull up in the private parking space (for one car) and unload your bag. After entering the hallway, climb stairs and head inside to make yourselves at home instantly. Elegant style and sophisticated design flow throughout, creating perfect spaces in which to be sociable and to unwind in after adventurous days. Find a spot on the sofa and curl up in front of the smart TV or connect to the wireless speakers and enjoy a lively boogie and a tipple with fellow guests to celebrate quality time spent together. Spy Derwentwater from the lounge before heading through to the beautiful kitchen/diner where the coffee machine helps to kick start early mornings and the wine cooler keeps your tipples chilled on your return. Cook up a storm, plate up and raise a toast before tucking in and topping up your glasses. When it’s time to rest weary heads and say goodnight, sneak off to bed in one of three exquisite bedrooms. Two of these reside up a flight of stairs where you can also find a family bathroom and shower room. There is additional roadside parking nearby.

Close to a plethora of glorious landscapes, throw on your hiking boots and head out to explore. Tucked between Skiddaw and Derwentwater is the bustling town of Keswick, visit its twice-weekly markets or treat yourselves to a meal out at one of its fine eateries. Summit Skiddaw (6 miles) where your 931m ascent will be rewarded with panoramic views or take it easy and hop on the Ullswater Steamer at Ullswater (17.5 miles) for a cruise around the second largest lake in England.

Overall, the house is lovely. The kitchen is well equipped. The downstairs bedroom is a good size, so is one of the upstairs bedroom. The second bedroom upstairs is smaller and has limited hanging storage, especially for trousers and dresses. Maybe net curtains in the windows facing the Hotel for privacy would be ideal. Parking is tight, especiallyRead more if you have a larger car. Location is great, as its only 20 minutes to walk into Keswick. Hide

What a truly beautiful house to stay and enjoy the lakes. Everything has been thought about from the placing of the mirrors and lighting, not to mention the very well equipped kitchen, which is very important to us as we have dairy and gluten intolerance and eat mostly at home. Although we did try the Lingholme kitchen just down the road and couldnRead moret have enjoyed such wonderful food. Not cheap but beautiful made, with fresh ingredients and attention to detail, well worth a visit. Hide

We loved staying in Farrier House it was the perfect location for our holiday. The property was well looked after, the kitchen was well equipped with everything you need. The village had a lovely cafe within walking distance that served lovely food. Keswick was the nearest town and it took us 5 minutes to get there.

This was our second visit to Farrier House. It is the best accommodation that we have stayed at. It is very clean. The kitchen is well equipt. The beds are comfortable and the flat is spacious and stylish. There is parking for one car behind the flat. There is a nice walk into Keswick on a path over the river and through a field.

Fabulous cottage, spotlessly clean and tidy. Lots of thoughtful touches, and a brilliantly well equipped kitchen. Excellent location, right on Derwent Water and an easy walk into Keswick. Nothing to fault here, highly recommend!

Had a lovely week in July at Farrier House. The house was clean, comfortable and had stunning views over Derwent Water. The kitchen was very well equipped and there was a good supply of local guide books. Easy walk into Keswick which has all amenities and would recommend The Round for very tasty burgers. Can also walk to Lingholm Estate and Cat BelRead morels. Easy access by car to the surrounding areas and other lakes. Many thanks. Hide

Top house and has everything you need in it - and has lots of great info in the cottage for stuff to do around the area. Good location - circa 15 mins walk to Keswick and also good for walking up Catbells if you so desire [ we did it in around 90 mins with two kids including the usual water / food breaks] Some people mention the parking space but iRead moret is fine - it's at an odd angle which gives the appearance that it is tricky but it's ok - same size as any normal one.
