A beautiful cottage offering a cosy bolthole for a romantic retreat right near an array of beaches and walks, the perfect place for your holiday.

This delightful cottage for two is set in a quiet Furness village midway between Ulverston and Barrow. Providing cosy, quirky and friendly accommodation for a couple seeking a relaxing getaway, this attractive cottage is a fantastic retreat within easy reach of many of the peninsula’s most popular attractions. The cottage has been imaginatively decorated and furnished to make your tranquil hideaway perfect, whether you’re intending on walking or cycling to explore the coast of Cumbria and the southern Lake District, or if you just want to kick back and relax.

Entering the cottage, the imaginatively furnished lounge features a warming wood burner, plenty of seating, a Smart TV and a selection of books. Exploring further, the kitchen has been brightly decorated and stylishly designed, with plenty of equipment perfect for cooking your favourite meals which you can enjoy around the central island. Stairs lead from the kitchen to the first floor where you will find the double bedroom, coolly decorated in light pastel tones and featuring plenty of storage space. This floor also has a stylish bathroom and a small office with desk and chair, perfect for catching up with work or reading a good book in peace. The cottage also has a lovely, light and quirkily decorated snug area in the loft, with Smart TV, low ceiling and exposed beams. The front garden has a lovely patio area ideal for a BBQ on a warm summer evening.

The cottage is within easy reach of some popular Furness beaches including Aldingham, Bardsea and Newbiggin-by-the-Sea (all within 5 miles). The Victorian town of Barrow-in-Furness (4 miles) features the Dock Museum and the remains of Furness Abbey. Other local attractions include the Laurel and Hardy Museum in Ulverston (6 miles), the South Walney Nature Reserve (11 miles) and the South Lakes Safari Zoo (5 miles), with Windermere and Coniston Water also within easy reach (both 15 miles).

The cottage is tastefully finished and very cosy and in an ideal location for exploring the Lake District and coastline would have no hesitation in returning. The owners are extremely helpful and responsive.

My husband and I stayed here for our 17th Wedding Anniversary. The cottage was perfect, clean, tidy with plenty of amenities. This is one of the nicest cottages I have EVER stayed in. Nearby is the town of Ulverston and Sunday lunch in the Rose & Crown there is a must (dog friendly pub). There is a lovely walk around Greenodd (a village just a coupRead morele of miles away). I couldnt have asked for anything else. Peaceful location with a village green on the doorstep with an added trail over the beck, ideal for a morning walk with the dogs. Close enough to call at the lakes for the day and surrounding beaches. The cottage had everything I needed, including a dryer and log burner after a downpour! I decompressed from my normal life nicely. I was a bit unlucky with the weather but was able to take advantage of the smart home features whilst waiting for the sun to reappear. For dog owners, there is a nice field adjacent for walks. After a long drive, I was happy to discover there are a small number of Just-Eat/Uber who'll deliver which helps wRead morehen the weather is shonky. The home is perfect for a couple to enjoy. Beautiful cottage in a quiet peaceful village. Very short walk to a little park & a pathway by a brook to walk your dogs. Close driving proximity to a lot of great places to visit. Cottage is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. Very clean & well taken care of. Sweet patio in front garden complete with table & 2 chairs. We fell in love with this cottage the moment we arrived! Especially being boxing day and seeing the Christmas tree all lit up in the window ! The film the holiday came to mind , Drinks in the fridge and treats for our little dog was a lovely touch! The cottage was so comfortable, cosy, and so quiet! Gorgeous little cottage so well equipped and cosy . Perfect location for exploring the lake district. Luna our cocker spaniel loved the park across the road. Would definitely recommend this cottage would definitely book again we had a lovely holiday.

Duke cottage was easy to find and parking was right next to the side of the cottage. It was lovely inside but we did move the chest in the living room only because our German Shepherd couldn't manoeuvre around it. It was really hot so the playing field and stream were a great advantage for the dog being only a few yards from the front door. Beautifully decorated, kitchen has every utensil you could ever need to use, comfortable bed, charming small garden in lovely quiet village close to beaches and shops in Burrow (18 mins). Had a lovely week in this warm and comfortable cottage. Everything you could need is provided, including welcome surprises in the fridge for me and the dogs. The cottage is beautifully decorated with lots of interesting and quirky bits on display. The log burner made it even more cosy on the rainy evenings. We couldn't be happier with how the holiday went. We had a great time. Our only comment would be that the road conditions of the surrounding area are awful, flooding, huge pothole, so many potholes.

Amazing cottage! Felt so at home really did not want to leave! Me and my GSD had a fabulous week here and everything you needed was in the property or swiftly provided by Rachael & Mark. Nothing was too much trouble and they checked in every so often to make sure all was ok. Was perfect size for cosy nights in.
