Surrounded by beautiful Lakeland fells, this traditional stone house sits just 3 miles outside Keswick. Located between Skiddaw and Derwentwater, this property sleeps five people over two bedrooms and welcomes two canine companions. It’s the ideal accommodation option for small families or groups of friends who want to get away from it all to explore the Lake District. Spend your days kayaking around Derwentwater, and your evenings sitting on the patio soaking up the views of the fells and fields.
Start your day with a coffee on the raised patio area to the side of the house. This is the perfect place to plan your day ahead and, if you have your canine companions with you, they can safely run free because the outdoor space is enclosed. After a day scaling the heights of Skiddaw, come home and store all your outdoor gear in the handy storage area off the contemporary kitchen. Cook up a storm for your loved ones, and then get them all together to eat around the table in the living room/diner. After dinner, sink into a sofa and watch your favourite TV shows as your sleepy pups stretch out in front of the wood burner. When you can’t keep your eyes open any longer, head up to the first floor and you’ll find two lovely bedrooms to choose from.
There’s a great 1.5-mile hike up Latrigg that starts at Applethwaite (1 mile). Pack a picnic and make the most of those amazing views. If you’re looking for something a little more adventurous, head to Keswick Extreme (4 miles) and arrange a Via Ferrata mountain experience. At the end of the day, make your way into Keswick (3 miles) and order yourself some Cumberland sausages for dinner in one of the welcoming gastropubs.
