Elegant to the extreme, this property sits in the picture-postcard village of Cartmel, which is considered to be one of the prettiest villages in Cumbria. Sleeping four people over two bedrooms and welcoming one canine companion, it’s a wonderful retreat for a small family or group of friends who are yearning to explore the fells, lose themselves in quaint cobbled streets, and sample some of the country’s most delicious sticky toffee pudding.
After a day of blissful fell walking, make your way to the kitchen to cook up a feast for your loved ones. There you’ll find everything you need to create a fine dining experience, which you can then enjoy in the dining area that offers lovely views of the garden. Alternatively, step out onto the patio and fire up the charcoal BBQ. You can dine alfresco while the kids or your dog roam free in the enclosed garden. After dinner, stretch out on a sofa in front of the wood burner in the living room. Crack open a bottle of something cool and crisp and enjoy your favourite TV shows while the kids head to the snug to watch cartoons. At the end of the day, there are two gorgeous bedrooms on the first floor to choose from.
If you have your pup with you, head to Grange over Sands (2.5 miles), where you can stretch their legs on the impressive Victorian promenade. Enjoy the views of Morecambe Bay and then stop off in one of the dog-friendly pubs to enjoy a pint or two. Alternatively, head to Black Horses Ltd (1 mile) where you can meet beautiful Friesian horses. Or, for a real foodie treat, take a stroll to the Cartmel Village Shop (30 metres) – the home of the village’s famous (extra-sticky) sticky toffee pudding.
