This lovely farmhouse is situated on a working farm in the centre of the village, surrounded by lakes and mountains - an outdoor adventurers paradise.
Sitting in the heart of the beautiful village of Buttermere, this lovely property on a working farm sleeps seven people over four bedrooms. It’s the perfect countryside retreat for families or groups of friends who want to spend their days exploring the incredible beauty of Buttermere’s crystal waters, and their evenings relaxing and reconnecting with their loved ones in a truly quaint and quirky farmhouse.
Step inside and kick off your walking boots in the utility/boot room. Head on through to the stylish country-style kitchen and you’ll find everything you need to create a feast for your loved ones. Get everyone around the dining table to eat together and, afterwards, pour yourself a glass of something cool and crisp and sink into a sofa in the living room to watch your favourite TV shows. There’s a lovely wood burner to warm your toes in front of. When the day is done, make your way up to the first floor, where you’ll find three wonderful bedrooms to choose from. Due to the authentic character of the property, the double bedroom has a lower door frame, so care needs to be taken.
Buttermere is a popular wild-swimming spot, so start your day with an invigorating dip. If you want to swim the 3-mile trip from end to end, start off at the Bridge Hotel (0.5 miles). From there, you can see the opposite end of the lake clearly. Alternatively, soak up some culture at Wordsworth House and Garden in Cockermouth (10.5 miles), the 18th-century birthplace of the Romantic poet William Wordsworth. Afterwards, head back to Buttermere village and treat yourself to afternoon tea in a traditional teashop or a well-deserved pint in one of the village’s pubs.
