Climb Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain, from the head of the lake or enjoy a gentle stroll around woodland at the bottom of the lake. There are three pubs within 3 miles of the cottage and the village of Gosforth is 7 miles away and has shops selling groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, food to go and newspapers. Take a trip on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, making a leisurely 7-mile journey through beautiful scenery to the sea from Dalegarth (9 miles). Blow away the cobwebs along the sands at Drigg Beach, 10 miles away and perfect for picnics and a dip in the sea. History enthusiasts will love Muncaster Castle where you can take in the history or enjoy the lovely grounds, and there is lots going on all year round, especially for children.

Gather around the dining table for sociable mealtimes before retiring to the living room to snuggle on the sofa warming your toes in front of the wood burner and a DVD on the TV. The shower room completes the downstairs. Upstairs, find three cosy bedrooms – two doubles and one triple bedroom with three single beds.

The cottage is in a great location and is very picturesque. We stayed in autumn and the fire was lit before we arrived, so it was nice and cosy. There were electric heaters in the bedrooms too. The kitchen was quite well equipped and there was plenty of hot water for showers.

Fantastic location in the heart of Wasdale. Bedrooms were cofortable and clean. Unfortunately the downstairs was mouldy, unclean and disappointing. Would not take much effort or expense to make it superb.

This corttage worked really well for three generations of family. In all respects it exceeded our expectations. It was also a rare glimpse into the life of a working hill farm, the children loved the animals in the farmyard. It was a superb base for mountain walking, despite poor weather. The beach at Seascale is ideal for the children.

we recently had the pleasure of staying at Borrowdale Farm in the Lake District, and it was a truly lovely experience. This was the second time we attended. The accommodation was cozy and comfortable, providing a perfect retreat amidst the stunning natural beauty of the area. One of the highlights of my stay was the warm hospitality of the farmer. Brilliant location for climbing Scafell Pike. Lambs had just started to be born while we were there, so that was extra special. There was a welcoming fire in the wood burner when we arrived.. The beds were very comfortable and the bedrooms lovely and warm. It was great having a glimpse of a working farm. Id love to go back.

Great property with lots of room, comfortable and a great getaway for a relaxing break - perfect spot for all the surrounding walks - enjoyed our stay and privacy in the cottage. A unique and wondrous place to experience. Not many such in our country, I should think: it does not get better than this if you want to spend time deep in the hills and away from the crowds, gazing at the lake and the great Wasdale screes from inside the thick, stone walls of the cottage, willing (over breakfast and in your sights) the clouds to lRead moreift off the highest summits in the Lakes. Wonderful stay in an amazing location. We loved being on the working farm and close to the lake. We had some fantastic walks straight from the doorstep. Location was perfect, 2 miles from start of climb of Sca fell Pike. The owner was very helpful and kind. Perfect if you want to get away from modern tech (no TV, just dvd player and very limited slow wifi). Everything was as described but could do with updating some things. Peaceful and beautiful outlook over the lake.
