Large groups can enjoy quality time together in this spacious period property, whilst immersing themselves in the unbridled natural beauty of the surrounding countryside. There are fells, lakes and the coast all nearby.

Located within the hamlet of Lamplugh on the outskirts of the western Lake District, this property is nestled amongst relatively isolated, breathtaking countryside. With many walks from your doorstep, you can explore the remote Ennerdale Valley and the Loweswater fells. A little further afield, you can immerse yourselves in the dramatic scenery of Wastwater with views across to Scafell or, heading north, you can discover picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake. For families, Whinlatter Forest Park has a range of activities on offer, as well as walking and cycling trails through the trees. You also have lots of towns to enjoy nearby, such as Cockermouth (7.5 miles), Whitehaven on the coast and popular tourist spot, Keswick and its outdoor specialist shops.

This grand Georgian farmhouse has been beautifully renovated; original features such as exposed beams, sweeping staircase and large sash windows sit effortlessly alongside mod-cons to add character and comfort throughout. As you’d expect from a property this age, the rooms are large and airy, ensuring everyone has plenty of space to spread out and relax. On entering, you’ll find yourself in the dining room where there is ample seating for everyone, whether you’re dining together, playing games or planning an adventure. From here, head into the modern, good-sized kitchen with plenty of space for preparation and storage. There is also a handy utility room with yet more storage and a washing machine for muddy gear. Moving into the lounge, you’ll appreciate the lower ceiling that create a sense of cosiness and the open fire which adds warmth and comfort. Deep sofas provide the perfect place for snuggling up of an evening after a busy day. Completing the ground floor is a twin bedroom with an en-suite shower room. The remaining bedrooms are upstairs: two further twin rooms, two doubles and one king-size with an en-suite shower room. (Please note that one of the twin rooms is accessed via one of the doubles.) All the bedrooms are immaculately presented, with neutral tones creating a calm and restful mood. There is also a family bathroom on this floor.

The farmhouse has 1 acre of shared garden, with far-reaching lawns, mature shrubs and a stream running through it. To the rear, there is a terrace for alfresco dining. Although shared, there is an area sectioned off for guests of this property.

Fantastic house which met all our requirements and we had a wonderful holiday. The beds were super comfortable! Great dining table which we enjoyed sitting round for games as well as food! The garden was delightful ( and very dog friendly) and it was a pity that the weather was such that we couldnt sit outside very much. We had a wonderful week, the house is perfect for large groups, and is comfortable and very well equipped. We cooked for 11 every night and there were plenty of pots and pans. The garden is great, especially at the front where you can sit and listen to the stream. The location is good, away from the crowds, but not far from Keswick or Cockermouth oRead morer the coast. Absolutely lovely gardens but for price, the house left a little to be desired. The new build housing estate down the road had some noisy building work at times during our stay. Locals with dogs we met at Congra Moss were really friendly. The info. booklet could have been a bit more informative about things to do etc.
