  • A former police house nestled at the foot of Blencathra
  • Peaceful village location offering serenity and charm
  • This quirky house is perfect base for any walking group or family
Property code: SZ185

Tucked at the foot of Clough Head with many walks straight from the door, this former police house is a wonderful abode for escaping to the Lake District.

Sitting 1.5 miles from the heart of Threlkeld, enjoy your peaceful location whilst being close to all the amenities you will need throughout your stay. The village has a welcoming pair of pubs where you can reward your walks and climbs with a tasty meal and a cold pint. If you’re partial to exploring on two wheels rather than on foot, the Sustrans Sea to Sea route passes nearby and is a great trail to head out on. If you encounter a rainy day or two, the King Kong Climbing Walls are located less than half a mile from your door so you can stay entertained come rain or shine. If you fancy a walk with panoramic views, Blencathra is a mile away and well-worth the climb to the top.

Arrive at this humble abode, step through the entrance porch and find yourself in the dining room. With a feature fireplace and a table to seat six guests, enjoy meals together and quality family time. The kitchen offers natural light from the patio doors and has two ovens, tall fridge and separate freezer, dishwasher and a washing machine. A handy WC is also located on this floor. Offering you somewhere bright and cosy to relax, the lounge has a wood burner (with smokeless fuel included) and comfotable seating. Switch on the TV/DVD for a film night or grab a board game for some family fun. A useful selection of OS maps help you plan your time. Heading upstairs you will find the two inviting bedrooms. The first double room has an additional bunk bed which can accommodate a further guest and boasts fantastic views of Blencathra – a real treat when you wake up and open the curtains. The second double is a smaller room and has views towards the Helvellyn range. Both bedrooms have sloping sections of ceiling but these shouldn’t restrict your head room. Rise and shine and head into the family bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC.

Take a coffee out to the suntrap patio at the side of the house or roam the small garden with a pretty pond. Though the pond is covered over with chicken wire, please take care. There are garden areas to the front and rear of the property.

Lovely cosy end of Terrace cittage with great views. Well equipped and super location for walking up Blencathra and over to the Dodds. Keswick an easy and short drive away. Comfy lounge with a cosy log burner and lots of extra heating if needed. Well kept patio garden and great to watch the small birds visiting.

What a find! Lovely property with beautiful views, quiet and tucked away but you can be in Keswick in 5 minutes. Good size rooms, comfy sitting room and a lovely kitchen and dining room where we spent the evenings playing cards or scrabble over a glass or two of wine. Really good value for money and we will definitely be back!

The cottage was evrything we needed. Perfect location, views from every window and a garden to sit in. Would recommend a visit to the Mining Museum, we went for an hour and stayed for three and could have stayed for longer. We really enjoyed our stay in this wonderful cottage. The bedrooms and lounge both had superb views and the beds were extremely comfortable. The location was perfect for us as it was based right near the cycle path to Keswick which was ideal! Would definitely recommend.

The house was perfect for our family of 5. The rooms were spacious, and warmed up really well with the heaters provided. We really enjoyed staying at Fell View. For mountain walking, the location is absolutely perfect.
