Set in the north of the Lake District, this pretty cottage is close to several beautiful lakes including Buttermere (5 miles), Crummock Water (6.5 miles), Derwentwater (5 miles), Thirlmere (13 miles) and Bassenthwaite Lake (11.5 miles). The bustling town of Keswick (8 miles) has a great choice of shops, pubs and restaurants. Fell walkers can head from the cottage in every direction, with Scafell Pike, Catbells, Dale Head, Helvellyn and Great Gable all within 10 miles. Other local attractions include the Honister Slate Mine (1.5 miles), the Derwent Pencil Museum (8 miles) and the Castlerigg Stone Circle (9.5 miles).

On stepping into this delightful cottage, named after an east-facing crag on the nearby Watendlath Fell, you will find the light and welcoming lounge. This is a lovely space to relax in at the end of a great day out, with an open fire set in a slate fireplace, comfortable seating, and a TV and DVD player so you can snuggle up with a favourite show or movie. The charming dining room is the perfect space for sharing a family meal, which you can prepare in the fully equipped kitchen, where you will find an electric oven and hob, washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and microwave. Heading upstairs, the first floor has two cosy bedrooms: a restful king-size room and a twin room. There’s also a bathroom complete with a shower over the bath and a WC. A little ‘secret room’ can be found at the top of the stairs.

Going outside, the pretty garden features a lawn with a patio area and outdoor furniture, ideal for sitting back in the evening with a glass of wine and taking in the stunning views over the valley. At the bottom of the garden, a gate leads to Hause Gill as it flows past the cottage.

Third year in a row at Bell Crag and we love it there. Comfortable , cozy, well equipped and the perfect location for us and our Labrador to explore the Lakes and the many walks in the area. Having the Yew Tree pub open next door just added to it! Already booked again for next year!

Really lovely. Just a note that the kettle seemed to be leaking. Please note re question below. I have recommended it to friends but now would have to mention the pub. It might not bother other people, however. . Certainly the food is very good and it couldn't be more convenient- that said, I'd recommend but with that caveat.
