  • One of a pair of neighbouring apartments in the heart of Coniston
  • This first-floor property features a shared garden in a secluded part of the town
  • The apartment is part of a property occupied by Donald Campbell during his last attempt at the world water speed record
Property code: SZ461

The apartment is ideally situated for keen walkers, with plenty of fells nearby including The Old Man of Coniston, Wetherlam and Swirl How (all within 3.5 miles). The thriving village of Coniston is home to the Ruskin Museum, and there’s a range of great places to eat and drink. The shore of Coniston Water is just half a mile from the apartment, where you can take part in a range of water sports including kayaking, canoeing and sailing, or take a cruise across the lake by steamer. Heading east, the village of Hawkshead (4.5 miles) is at the head of Esthwaite Water and is known for its links with the author Beatrix Potter. Windermere is just 3 miles further on.

Entering the property, the ground-floor reception area is shared by the two apartments and features shared laundry facilities including a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. An internal staircase leads you up to this first-floor apartment. Stepping inside, the entrance hall has a trouser press and plenty of space to leave your coats before you enter the light and airy lounge. This is a warm and inviting space, perfect for unwinding in at the end of the day. Here you will find lots of comfortable seating, a TV, DVD and a wood burner-effect electric fire. Exploring further, the bright and stylish kitchen/diner is perfect for cooking and enjoying all your favourite meals. The kitchen has a range of useful equipment including an electric oven with gas hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The apartment has two charming bedrooms: the double room is decorated in gentle pastel shades and features a romantic four-poster bed, and the fresh, relaxing second bedroom has a super-king-size bed. Each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom, one with a shower over the bath, one with a walk in shower and both with a WC.

Outside there’s a delightful private seating area with garden furniture within the garden which is shared with the neighbouring apartment. Here you will find more outdoor furniture and an array of colourful azaleas, rhododendrons and hanging baskets. Private undercover parking is available for up to two cars; please note there is a height restriction, but most vehicles should be suitable - vans and vehicles with roof racks may have difficulty. Lockable storage for bikes and other outdoor equipment is also available.

Everything perfect. Central location. Just what we needed for a relaxing holiday. Of course the weather helped. This was our first stay in Coniston, ideal location away from the crowds of Windermere etc.

Very nice flat. We appreciated the welcome of our hosts and found everything clean and in order. Location is ideal for walking holidays and away from the bigger busy villages. But you reach stores, pubs and restaurants by foot and have very good connections by bus to Ambleside.

The apartment was in a great location for both Coniston village, the lake and for walks in the hills. It was very clean and had everything needed for a walking holiday. A very comfortable apartment with high-quality furnishings and fittings. In the rather wet week that we had, we also appreciated the hanging space in the hall and the undercover parking.

A spacious well equipped apartment in an excellent location close to the centre of Coniston and 10 minutes walk to the lake and jetty (where the Bluebird cafe serves delicious lunches and cakes). The scenery is amazing and the National Trust steam gondola is a must. Apartment owners were very friendly and helpful (there was even a homemade cake forRead more us when we arrived). There is a Spar shop just round the corner and several pubs nearby to eat out at. All in all a lovely place to holiday. Hide

Great stay at Conaston Lodge, everything was spotlessly clean and all equipment was available. Lovely cake was left for us and nice flowers on the table. Hosts were on site if needed. The only downside was that the bed wasnt very comfortable and appartment was a bit dated or querky which ever you think. Plenty of pubs within walking distance which Read moreserve nice food and drinks. Plenty of walks on the doorstep flat or hilly which ever you prefare. We would stay there again if in the area. Hide
