Occupying a serene spot on the northern fringe of the Lake District, this spacious farmhouse offers warm and relaxing accommodation for larger families and groups seeking a traditional retreat.

Situated in an idyllic spot in the north-west Lake District National Park, this fantastic property is ideal for walkers, climbers, nature lovers and cyclists. The Cumbrian coast is just 10 miles to the west, or you could head further into the Lake District to discover glorious woodlands and magnificent fells. The Georgian town of Cockermouth (4 miles) was the birthplace of Wordsworth and has some wonderful pubs and restaurants. The nearest lakes are Crummock Water (6.5 miles) and Buttermere (9.5 miles) with Bassenthwaite Lake (8 miles), Ennerdale Water (12 miles) and Derwentwater (15 miles) also within easy reach. Other local attractions include Whinlatter Forest Park (8.5 miles) and the Derwent Pencil Museum in the market town of Keswick (16 miles).

Entering this lovely property, you will find the warm and inviting lounge, which makes a great space to unwind in at the end of a fantastic day exploring the lakes. The lounge has plenty of comfortable seating, a TV and a wood burner. An additional living area features additional seating, a central wood burner and steps down to a games room with a pool/snooker table and dartboard. The airy farmhouse-style kitchen/diner is perfect for preparing and sharing your favourite meals and is equipped with a charming dining table, electric oven and dishwasher. Other equipment, including an additional fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer, can be found in the nearby utility room. The property has five tastefully decorated bedrooms, all on the first floor. Each bedroom has a TV and en-suite facilities. Three double rooms have en-suite shower rooms, while a fourth double has an en-suite bathroom. There’s also a family room with a double bed, twin beds and an en-suite shower room. Finally, the second floor is occupied by a spacious, light and refreshing bathroom, providing a unique space to relax, with exposed ceiling beams, skylight windows, marble-effect tiles and a freestanding bath with a handheld shower over.

Stepping outside, the enclosed garden has been professionally landscaped, with a stream running through it so children and dogs must be supervised. The garden provides a delightful space to relax in the afternoon. Two patios offer plenty of space for you to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining.

The house was great and well equipped (other than the range not working) The garden and outside area let it down. Broken seating and table, nothing cared for. All 5/6 bins that were there were all full to bursting when we got there. The paths immediately outside front/kitchen doors were really slippy, even with walking boots. Good size house and well equipped. Good location to access whole area. Would describe as rustic Farmhouse. Well equipped and comfortable. Comfy bedrooms and nice bathrooms. We had 7 teenagers between 13-19, 5 adults and 2 dogs. The cottage was perfect for us. Lots of outside space to explore, a lovely home with lots of rooms so we had plenty of space. Being safely away from Roads meant our dogs were safe to explore the grounds without a worry. Private and peaceful farmhouse which allowed us lots of space for 11 of us and a dog. We squeezed around one table eating altogether and had a real laugh playing pool in evenings, as well as spaces to break out and read/build lego/watch films. We had a wet week and the washer/drier was an excellent bonus. Lots of space to park, sit in garden, chat Read moretogether on sofas or bathe on top floor. An old, traditional farmhouse offering a simple place to relax- best bit was the private location! Hide

Lovely house in a lovely location, very peaceful. Be prepared for the farm track!! Garden and house needs some TLC. Grass very long on our arrival rendered it unusable by 2 year old . House needs much better maintenance, beds comfortable but wardrobes and some drawer units falling apart.

Great stay, plenty of room for everyone (10 of us plus dog). Comfortable beds with plenty of space for us to all gather, and a great games room! Well situated for access to various locations around Cockermouth etc. Farm track access to the house isnt suitable for lower cars (such as my BMW) - luckily we travelled in my wifes car instead

We loved our stay in this wonderful house - a large, modernised farmhouse with lots of space for 9 of us to enjoy a family holiday. The location is great (30 mins from Keswick & Buttermere) for walking. It is at the end of a bumpy track, next to a derelict farm so is remote and peaceful - the only sounds were birds & sheep! There is a very large kiRead moretchen (although oven is small), two lounges + dining room and lots of parking = even a stream! (Wifi is limited as is phone signal) We'd come again! Hide

We loved our stay at the cottage, there was 12 of us & a dog! Everything we needed was there! The only thing I would say is go very slow at driving into the property, which they do state anyways! every time I got In-touch with Kelly she was always very quick at responding and very helpful

Wonderful place to stay to get away from it all. Sitting in front of the log fire in the evening playing games will be a cherished memory. We loved this cottage! Had everything we needed for a large family & friends group. Lovely rural location but close enough to drive to places of interest. I had some trouble finding the cottage as arrived in the dark but the rest of the group managed by following the hosts instructions!
