Keswick is a bustling market town situated next to Derwentwater and surrounded by mountains. There is much to do here such as peruse the shops, dine at the restaurants or visit one of the many museums and tourist attractions. An abundance of walks is waiting to welcome you, from gentle lakeside strolls, to fell hiking. Head 6.5 miles to the fell, Blencathra or 5 miles to Skiddaw mountain, and admire the stunning views across the Northern Lake District. Go fishing, hire a boat or take part in other water sports on the fantastic Derwentwater. The regular launch service here takes visitors around the lake and stops at various notable points including the walled garden that inspired Beatrix Potter and a waterfall. Alternatively, visit Whinlatter Forest Park (5 miles) for further walks and thrilling cycling trails.
