Situated at the heart of a quintessential Lakeland village, well placed for exploring the beautiful countryside.

Surrounded by the rugged landscape of the Glenderamackin River Valley with the fells of Blencathra in the distance, this delightful property is the perfect retreat. Build up an appetite venturing along the historic coach road to Clough Head 2 miles away, or strolling into Threlkeld Village 1.5 miles away for a hearty pub lunch or a slab of cake at the charming cafe. The Threlkeld Quarry and Mining Museum is a short 0.5-mile walk, where you can discover more about the area’s rich mining past and take a ride on the impressive steam locomotive.

Step in through the rear door and leave your muddy coats and shoes in the handy utility area, which features a washing machine and a tumble dryer. Stairs lead up to the comfortable lounge/diner, a bright and spacious room with sofas, a TV, DVD and a wood burner-effect electric fire. This room has high ceilings, neutral decor and a traditional fireplace, perfect for enjoying the views from the windows or sipping a glass of wine at the dining table. The kitchen is simply presented and has an electric cooker, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Two king-size bedrooms complete this floor, both sharing the family bathroom with its shower over the bath and WC. For parties of six guests, you can arrange use of the single bedroom tucked on the second floor, which also has an additional pull-out bed. Take care of the steep steps and beware of reduced head height when accessing this room.

There isn’t a dedicated outdoor space, but you are welcome to use the small patio. Adjacent to your accommodation is a stretch of common land ideal for games and younger guests will delight in the public playground.

A clean, comfortable and nicely-furnished cottage in a superb location. There are walks in every direction from the doorstep and the old railway line in to Keswick, which runs right past the property, provides a beautiful, four-mile off-road walk into Keswick on a Tarmac surface perfect for cycling, pushchairs and wheelchairs. My son-in-law, dog anRead mored I ventured no further than the Keswick basin throughout our four-night stay. Great pub dining also within walking distance. We hope to return. Hide

Really enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was ideal for four of us and well equipped. Lots of walks to do locally. Not far to walk over to the village coffee shop and pub (20 mins) across the fields. Keswick is very close for shops and supermarket.
