Set on the outskirts of Bowness-on-Windermere within easy reach of the iconic lake, this compact yet cosy property is an ideal base for families and small groups.
Tucked in a rural position with elevated views of the surrounding landscape, this first-floor property sleeps four guests in comfort. A short walk or drive will bring you into the diverse countryside that inspired the likes of Beatrix Potter, and you can visit her former residence at Hill Top House 12.5 miles away. Closer to home, lake Windermere is a treat to explore whether you are walking around the shoreline or cruising across the water, and there is plenty of choice when it comes to choosing a cafe or restaurant. Water sports are also available for adventurous guests, so why not try sailing, kayaking or even water skiing during your stay?
On arrival, the traditional stone exterior is impressive, and when you climb the outer steep steps to enter the property you’ll be greeted by a hallway with hanging space for coats. Vaulted ceilings and timber beams feature throughout to add a touch of old-world charm. There is a bedroom on either side of the hallway, offering a choice between a double with storage space, and a bunk bedroom with full-sized bunk beds and storage. Next, the family bathroom provides washing facilities in the form of a shower over the bath and a WC. Finally, the spacious lounge/diner is filled with natural light and warmed throughout by the wood burner that’s situated in the feature fireplace. Take a seat on the sofas or armchairs to warm your toes, enjoy the TV, DVD and Bluetooth music system for evening entertainment. There are books, games and DVDs to browse, and a set of double doors reveal the farmhouse-style kitchen with its electric oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer and a fridge with an icebox compartment.
The shared garden has a vast expanse of lawn safely enclosed by a dry-stone wall, where you’ll discover a BBQ area and an orchard. On sunny evenings, your private patio area has seating and a table for sharing a bottle of red with a view.
