There are dozens of outdoor activities and natural wonders close to this holiday property. The Ullswater ‘Steamers’ are just 7 miles away for a wonderful boat ride. Aira Force Waterfall (4.5 miles) is a sight to behold and has paths suitable for most abilities, while more seasoned hikers might want to take a trip up Helvellyn (18 miles) or Place Fell (8 miles). Walk the one-mile route to Little Mell Fell for stunning views, or the 3.5-mile route to Pooley Bridge along footpaths straight from the front door. Haweswater Reservoir (14.5 miles) is well worth a visit - when the water level is low you can see the remains of the village that was drowned when a dam was built in 1935.

Step into the property from the parking area at the rear into the open-plan living area. Fresh and bright decor with sofas set around a stone fireplace and TV make for cosy evenings in, while a charming wooden dining table and pine kitchen cupboards have a traditional feel. You have everything you need to self-cater, including an electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave and a washer/dryer. Up a small flight of stairs, you’ll find the bathroom with a waterfall shower over the bath. Up another flight of stairs are the double bedrooms. Both are bright and airy with pops of colour in the furnishings; one room has a wonderful four-poster bed.

Outside, there is a lawn area at the front of the property, which is shared with two other holiday cottages, plus a private sheltered veranda with a bench to enjoy the view. To the rear of the property, there’s a large, gravelled area with another bench, a lockable storage area and a byre to store outdoor gear and bikes. There is off-road parking for two cars accessed via the gate by the cottages.

I'm really disappointed by our stay. I was called a few hours before we were due to arrive to understand the cleaners hadn't turned up and so we'd have a late check-in. On checking in the place was not clean. Dog hair everywhere (all over the sofa) and my 20 month old daughter found a shard of glass on the floor. The WiFi was down in the cottage anRead mored the router was not in our building to be able to reset it. I was meant to be working on the Friday but couldn't due to no signal. Hide

Fantastic family break at this cosy cottage. The location was great, situated high above the lake and next to campsite shop and country pub. The cottage was stocked with all the essentials including a great DVD selection! The rooms were clean and modern but still had the cosy country feel to it. We would highly recommend and stay here again.

This was a lovely cottage, only downside was that maintanence work was being done next door. It was very loud with banging, drilling etc. Not appreciated on a Sunday afternoon!! Will have to consider our options next time booking a cottage. Cannot therefore recommend the cottage or company to a friend

Mell Fell View is the perfect setting for exploring the North-Eastern Lakes. The cottage is compact, cosy and well-equipped. Ideal for 2-4 people. We ventured slightly north to Acorn Bank and Hutton-in-the-Forest in order to escape rain, but otherwise we rarely needed to leave the area round Ullswater for the start of our walks. Perfect base for a couple of days walking with our dogs. Cottage is very comfortable and warm with everything we needed. Both bedrooms were lovely and it was hard to decide which one to use. The cottage was bigger than I expected from the photos. Bathroom was so modern too.

Tranquil cottage in a remote place but only a couple of miles to Ulleswater, and about 20/30mins to Penrith or Keswick. Shame the glorious view from just down the lane was not available from the cottage. Had everything we needed (except TV which was faulty during our stay). Lovely little cottage in a great location. Pooley Bridge was a good walk with an alternative route away from the busy road. Dogs loved swimming in Ullswater. The quiet site next door were very welcoming to non residents wanting to use the bar.
