Ideally placed to make the most of the western Lake District fells and Cumbrian coastline, this delightful property is a great choice for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers alike. The village of Holmrook is home to a diner, pub and Post Office, while nearby Ravenglass, just 3 miles away, boasts a narrow-gauge steam railway that runs up to the fells at Eskdale. Jump in the car and head 3 miles west for Drigg Beach, a paradise for birdwatchers with its wildlife-rich dune system. Or head inland to take on one of the Lakeland peaks including the mighty Scafell Pike. Other nearby attractions include Muncaster Castle, 4 miles away and the Georgian harbour town of Whitehaven, 15 miles away.

Once a machinery garage, this unique property is now a spacious and light family home with thoughtful attention to detail throughout. Step outside to enjoy the beautiful, sheltered garden with dining furniture and wonderful uninterrupted views over the Irt Valley. Beyond this lies 8.5 acres of private wild woodland with twisting paths leading down to the River Irt, perfect for exploring while keeping an eye out for wildlife along the way. There is parking for up to four cars.

Lovely cottage and location if you like it quiet. Good walks around the woods, we even saw some deer. Lots of places to visit near by. Workington, St Bees and Seascale recommended . Wast Water is beautiful.

This was our second time at the property. We stayed at Irt Valley View previously in 2022. We loved it just as much this time as last time. Perfect location for exploring the west side of the Lakes. The private woodland is a lovely bonus kids especially loved the swing. We spent lots of time photographing the birds in the garden and saw bats and a Read morebarn owl in the evening. The cottage was really lovely, very spacious, clean and comfortable. It is like a tardis with plenty of room. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Our 4th visit to this cottage. Perfect for peace and quiet . Woodland walk is superb as is the local beach . Access to Ennerdale water and Loweswater if required. The cottage is very roomy and plenty of space for all well equipped beds comfortable too. The garden is a natural area and dog safe lots to sniff. All in all a great week. Booked again .

Quite disappointed. It's not pet friendly, it allows pets but there is a big difference to being pet friendly. No blinds/curtains on any windows apart from bedrooms. Dogs are not allowed on furniture, upstairs or in any bedrooms. Must remove all dog hairs from carpets and furniture before leaving. Amazing week at a lovely cottage. The cottage was so much bigger than the pictures made it look. Every facilities you could think of. The garden and woods were well used by both our saints and very secure. The owner was a lovely man who checked to make sure all was well. Excellent property, well equipped and a lovely location. The garden was a delight, so lovely to see all the birds on the feeder and the rabbits on the lawn. We went with son, daughter in law and grandchildren plus 2 dogs. plenty of room for all of us.

This converted barn, is incredible,the photos don't do it justice its massive .the facilities are great, and really easy to get around in a wheelchair. They don't have a dedicated shower room for disabled, but if they add a stool in shower it will be perfect for those that can't walk and stand for long.there are no steps inside or out .the 8.5 acreRead mores are gorgeous and our dog certainly loved it ..such a comfortable, warm ( very warm) place..I recommend to everyone and shall be back ..thank you. Such a beautiful place to stay. So close to the most beautiful of beaches, especially St Bees. We also went on the Ravenglass and Esk railway and walked to an incredible waterfall. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and a great location. We loved watching the wildlife in the garden. Just a massive thumbs up from us and couldnt recommend more.Read more Hide

The cottage is comfortable and roomy. Some may believe it was a little basic but it has everything that is needed. The location is excellent if youre aim is a quieter part of the lakes the area is beautiful great walks, lakes and beaches.

The location is fantastic. Beautiful views, loved the wildlife in the garden and having access to the woodland paths was a real bonus. Plenty of things to do and walks in the local area. Space in the living area gives plenty of space for dogs and humans to spread them selves out.
