Explore both coast and countryside with ease from this home. Spacious rooms offer plenty of places to socialise or grab some peace and quiet after returning home each day.
The Eskdale Valley has something for everyone and will keep guests of all ages entertained. Hop on the steam engine, known as the La'al Ratty, at Dalegarth Station (half a mile) and journey to Ravenglass (7.5 miles) for a trip to the coast. Lace up your shoes and wander the banks of the River Esk with a tasty picnic packed up. If you’re feeling brave, jump in one of the natural pools along the way for a refreshing dip. Just 5 miles from home is the impressive Stanley Ghyll Waterfall which tumbles from 60ft into a dramatic gorge - a great place to visit. With a handful of pubs gracing the valley, tuck into a hearty meal at the closest watering hole which is just half a mile from your door.
Arrive at this pretty abode and head inside via the hallway. With underfloor heating, the games room has a washer/dryer and en-suite shower room with walk-in shower and WC, so you can throw muddy clothes in to wash as soon as you return from outside and freshen up. Get competitive on the table football table or the small pool table for fun nights in. There is also a handy room for bikes and boots on the ground floor, where dogs can sleep, too. With microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, double electric oven and gas hobs, the kitchen/diner has all you need to rustle up meals. Dine together at the table which sits next to the window with lovely views. After dinner, enjoy a drink in the south-facing conservatory and admire glimpses of Harter Fell. It’s a great spot to sit with a drink throughout the day. Open-tread stairs in the kitchen lead to the first floor. Here, you will find the comfortable lounge with lovely high ceilings and characterful exposed beams. The corner sofa is an inviting place to curl up in front of the wood burner-effect gas fire and the TV with your favourite DVD playing. A selection of books and games are perfect for cosy afternoons and family nights. When it’s time to drift off, three bedrooms await on this floor. There is a king-size room, a double bedroom which is snug with not much room at either side of the bed, and a bunk bedroom great for children. One bunk is a mid-sleeper and the other a high-sleeper, there is plenty of room for den-making underneath. Completing the first floor is the family bathroom with WC where you can freshen up in the bath or rinse in the separate shower. If you have two additional guests joining you, you can request for the games room to be made up as a king-size bedroom, in which case the games tables will be packed away.
Spend time in the multi-level, enclosed garden (take care between levels) where you can sit with a treat and a tipple. There is a raised deck outside the conservatory with furniture for dining alfresco and a lovely bottom garden with places to enjoy some shade. A side patio is great for enjoying a glass of wine on, and there is a playhouse in the garden for little ones to call their own.
