Climb Latrigg behind the house to gaze over undulating surroundings and the lakes of Bassenthwaite and Derwentwater. Walk 1 mile into Keswick shop, dine out or see a play in the Theatre by the Lake. Take a cruise on the water or hire boats, paddle-boards or canoes. Visit the Castlerigg Stone Circle during your stay. Some 3.5 miles away, this dates back to 3,000BC and captures views towards the mountains of Helvellyn.

Wander on through to the striking lounge/diner, with its oak beams and vaulted ceiling above the dining area. Light the open fire, switch on the TV which has Freeview, or simply admire the artwork including an original sculpture. Amble over to the kitchen/breakfast room area to cook hearty meals for your party. Find this space has a fan oven, halogen hobs, microwave and dishwasher. Dine at the farmhouse table in here looking out over the garden or at the magnificent table in the dining area. Completing the ground floor is a studio room with an open fire that can be used as a snug, drying space or an additional single bedroom if requested in advance. Climb the stairs up to the galleried landing, with its village view and book collection. There are three king-size bedrooms, plus a single room for a child, all with scenic views. The generous family bathroom, with its freestanding, victorian cast iron bath, shower, WC and handbasin, is also on the first floor, together with a separate WC.

Tear yourselves away from the beautiful house to enjoy the gardens. Dine out in the fresh air, supervise children as they paddle in the clear beck and simply soak up the sweeping Lakeland vistas. There is parking for up to three cars in the cottage courtyard.

Wonderfully characterful house (wooden beams hundreds of years old, interesting art and sculptures, etc), downstairs is open plan which is fabulous for a young family (or anyone really). Low ceiling will have anyone over 6ft stooping a lot, but not a problem. Garden lovely, especially with the stream running through it. Very quiet area - very relaxRead moreing. Bathroom excellent. Well equipped kitchen. Parking space good for 2, and can take 3. Recommended! Hide

We found the cottage very cold even after we lit a log fire. The central heating and fire did not allow the lower ground floor to heat up.

A lovely house in a great location. We loved the garden and being able to have our breakfast at the table outside and plan our day. It's about a 30 minute walk into the centre of Keswick and a 20 minute walk to the Pheasant Inn, worth booking a table there for a meal. The house is clean and the beds comfortable. There's an excellent BBQ. The gatewaRead morey into the property is a little tight, wouldn't want to try getting a large car in. I would stay here again and can recommend it. Hide

Pros- the location is very central, with hikes from the front door. The view from the garden doesn't get old, it really is beautiful. Beds are comfy, and the bathroom is lovely. Cons- you will need to take everything, because as I was told by a Sally's rep when I asked about the 1 bin bag left for a 2 week stay. Provisions are left at the owners diRead morescretion. So bring S&P, tea, coffee, sugar and cleaning essentials. We stayed in early June and it was cold. The windows are not great. Hide

This old-style house was perfect venue for a party of 5 adults and 2 children, including some with limited mobility. The downstairs is very spacious and having two large tables meant that the group could have different activities running simultaneously. Beautiful garden with footpath leading into Keswick (~45min walk) or short drive. Three of the uRead morepstairs bedrooms are very cramped, but we spent most of our time outside or downstairs, so it didn't matter! One huge bathroom and one tiny toilet. Hide

We absolutely loved our stay at Latrtigg View! Everything was perfect from directions to get there, instructions and the house itself was beautiful and well equipt. Amazing location but quiet enough to feel secluded and private! We will definitely be back! Thankyou!!!

The house was well located and well equipped but it is quiet quirky and tired as some of the other reviews say. It felt damp and cold and it was only October! Beds were comfortable and bathroom was fabulous.

A historic cottage in a very quiet location, close to Keswick and superb mountain walks. The downstairs is spacious: a choice of fireside sitting, dining room, kitchen/diner and outdoor dining.
