This elegant cottage is studded within the peaceful village of Braithwaite, close to the beautiful shores of Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwentwater, a haven for walkers and cyclists alike.

Set in an idyllic rural location yet within 2.5 miles of Keswick, this cottage is family-friendly and stylish with sleeping space for up to six guests. The village of Braithwaite offers walking routes throughout the fells, including challenging hill climbs up Grisedale Pike and Crag Hills. There are further opportunities to test your endurance tackling the Newlands Horseshoe walk with its six summits, but the tranquil shores of Bassenthwaite are a must for gentle strolls. Reached via an 8-mile drive, Bassenthwaite Lake is renowned for its stunning vistas and vast array of wildlife. Venturing into Keswick for a change of pace will reward you with eateries and shops in abundance, as well as a popular family-run cinema and a theatre by the lake.

Leave your coats and shoes in the stairwell and step into the lounge, a comfortable room warmed by the wood burner situated in the feature fireplace with its slate hearth. A TV and an iPod docking station are available for evening entertainment, and the TV has Netflix access that you are welcome to use with your own login. Next, the bright and spacious kitchen is fitted with an under-counter fridge, a freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and an electric oven with a ceramic hob, perfect for cooking up a storm. Listen to the radio and gather around the dining table for breakfast, watching the birds on the feeders through the French doors. Upstairs, the super-king-size bedroom can be split into a twin on request, and there is plenty of storage space in the chest of drawers and two bedside cabinets. A grand scroll bed takes pride of place in the king-size bedroom with its built-in wardrobes, chest of drawers and bedside cabinets, and the final bedroom has adult-sized bunk beds, bedroom furniture and an alcove with handy storage space. Completing the property is an excellent bathroom with a walk-in style shower and a WC.

Outside, the garden has lawn space lined with flowering plants and shrubbery and there is garden furniture for enjoying al fresco meals whipped up on the BBQ. A garden shed provides storage for bikes, hidden just out of sight around the corner.

We loved our stay here. A beautiful cosy cottage but with plenty of space for six of us. It was well furnished and equipped with lots of extra homely touches making us feel most welcome. The village is gorgeous and we could go for walks straight from the door. The best cottage we have stayed in and we can't wait to come back again. Thankyou

Lovely house in a beautiful village. Everything you will need right on your doorstep, village shop, 2 pubs , cafe, and a great restaurant if you want a more special dinner. House has absolutely everything you need and more. Very comfortable, quiet and cosy and also a precious parking space. Will definitely be back.

Sadly we only had three days in this cottage, fitting round local family commitments, but we loved our time here. The cottage was spotless, comfy and stylish. Particularly liked the outdoor space. Lots of walks from the cottage door, with pleasant pubs to drink in afterwards; the Coledale Inn having the best outdoor space in our opinion, with fab vRead moreiews and a better range of real ales. Friendly village shop a big plus. Stagecoach 77a bus very handy for linear walks without using the car. Hide

The cottage is in an excellent location for getting quickly into Keswick and so many great walks in the North Lakes. It was warm and cosy and the wood burner was a great feature. Shower is powerful and the house was spotlessly clean. We like to cook and the kitchen was well stocked. Parking for one car directly outside. The Smart TV is getting a biRead moret old and slow, but I know Jo the owner is looking in to that, we took a connecting lead so we could connect a device to the TV. Highly recommended Hide

Great cottage and good location and very peaceful. Many good family walks near by. Royal Oak Public House only 2 minute walk unfortunately due to the kitchen being refurbished there was no food available but the Coledale Inn only 5 minute stroll away has some good beers and good food available.
