Set in an elevated position just west of Ullswater, this impressive property sleeps six and is perfect for celebrating special occasions with your loved ones.

Elevated above Matterdale Common and Ullswater, this property once acted as the servant’s quarters for the adjoining main house. Today, it is elegant with stylish decor and furniture to match, creating a comfortable retreat for up to six guests. Escape the daily grind and explore Dockray at leisure, enjoying scenic walking and cycling routes such as trails leading to Aira Beck with its ethereal waterfalls 2.5 miles away. Ullswater 5 miles away is a must for gentle strolls and cruising on the lake by steamer, kayak or canoe, but adventurous types will appreciate the challenge of climbing Helvellyn 16.5 miles away. For foodies and retail therapy enthusiasts, Keswick is a 13-mile drive away with its restaurants, independent shops and amusements including a popular theatre and family-run cinema.

Enter via the main door and discard your shoes and coats in the storage cupboard before making your way inside, where you’ll find the downstairs WC and a useful utility room with a washing machine, dryer and hanging space. Next is the charming sunroom, a double-height room with impressive vistas and comfy furniture ideal for relaxing with your morning coffee. Step through into the lounge and light the open fire on chilly afternoons, settling down to make good use of the TV, DVD and SkyTV or selecting a book from the collection provided by the owners. Mealtimes are a delight thanks to the kitchen/diner with its heritage cabinetry, raised fan oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, under-counter fridge, and adjoining larder/cold room with fridge/freezer. You’ll have everything you need to rustle up simple snacks or hearty suppers, which can be enjoyed at the table over a bottle of good wine. Completing the ground floor is a snug room with an additional Smart TV and seating, perfect for younger guests. Climb the stairs leading from the kitchen up to the first floor at bedtime, ready to choose from three inviting bedrooms. First is a pleasant twin bedroom, which is served by a neighbouring shower room with a shower and WC. Located at the end of a long corridor is one king-size bedroom and one double. Studded between the bedrooms is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, the attractive garden has a raised patio with garden furniture for those balmy evening meals during the summer, and it doubles as a cosy spot to stargaze at nightfall. The pretty stretch of lawn has mature trees, shrubbery and flowering plants, and the views of the surrounding countryside are excellent. Ample parking is available.

We had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous cottage. The views are fantastic and there is great walking right from the door. We found the cottage very well-equipped and comfortable, everything we needed for a relaxed stay. The pub is in walking distance but you'll need a car for shops. Highly recommend and we plan to visit again!

Lovely cottage in very quiet secluded location. Great walks from the front door onto the hills. The nearest pub in Dockray serves lovely food and is approximately one mile away at the bottom of the hill so its all uphill coming back!! Penrith Keswick and Ambleside all within 20-40 minute drive.. Would definitely stay here again

A very comfortable cottage. It has enclosed outside space, ideal for dogs and is fully equipped for 6. The space downstairs is brilliant, a kitchen, 2 lounges with TV, a sun lounge with stunning views and a utility room, and downstairs cloakroom. Would definitely recommend and book again.

The house and the location is an absolute dream. One small request would be to add more hangers to the wardrobes. With the amount of outdoor clothing that we bring with us, we need at least twice the amount provided

A lovely cottage situated on the hillside, with a leisurely down-hill walk to the local pub (hotel) - slightly more challenging walking back up to the cottage! There are also some great local walks close to the cottage with Aria Force not too far. We have stayed in Cockley Moor cottage twice now and absolutely love it. It is very spacious, really well equipped and the view from the garden room is breathtaking. It affords total relaxation, the only noise being the sheep and the occasional car or walkers.

Fantastic location just far enough from the madding crowds of Ullswater. Well appointed kitchen with good facilities. Two sitting rooms both with TV's - great for a multi generational group. Comfy beds and plenty of hot water. Within walking distance of the pub with red squirrel sightings on the way.
