Generally we loved the property, its location and garden area in particular. Inside the property was superficially clean but could do with a deep clean. The fire had not been cleaned and no starter pack had been left. I removed the partly burnt logs and attempted to clean the great, but many of the gaps in the grate were blocked. I deemed it unusabRead morele, disappointing. However having said that we still had a wonderful holiday. Hide

The cottage is in a lovely part of the Lakes. Its quietly situated just beyond a farm and due to its age and location has plenty of character. We enjoyed the walk down to the good local pub on an evening, although it was slightly harder coming back up afterwards! The flattened wood beyond does mar the scenery a bit. It was nice to see red squirrelsRead more. Hide

We would most definitely consider staying again. Ideally located for both Eskdale and Wasdale and in peaceful surroundings. The storm damaged woodland behind the cottage has been cleared, now light and open. Red squirrels frequently visited. We were there end November with incredible weather but very cold. A fantastic location for a relaxing, away from it all, holiday. Lots of walks to do and places to visit. Everything we needed was in the cottage and we throughly enjoyed the garden and grounds.

Love this cottage - great location for access to Eskdale and Wastwater areas, but feels secluded. Our third time staying and it never disappoints - just be careful not to bang your had as people must have been small in the 17th century.

Arriving at the Cubben House cottage, it's like you walked into the set of the movie "The Holiday" - and what a holiday it was! Drive past the cute sheep and arrive at the charming, cosy cottage. It is quaint in every way- low ceilings, flagstone floors here and there, built in the 1600's, but has modern amenities, shower, heating- plenty hot waterRead more for baths in the cast iron tub. Views out of every window, wake to the bleating sheep and a great pub the Bower House very close. Will be back! Hide
