  • Bring your four legged friends on holiday and explore the likes of Derwentwater, Borrowdale Valley and Whinlatter Forest
Property code: SZ010

Tucked away in lively Keswick with easy access to the idyllic Borrowdale Valley, this cosy home is great for those holidaying with dogs who have a passion for exploring. Hop on a boat from the local launch and enjoy a trip across the water to lakeside spots such as Ashness Gate, where you can walk high above the valley to Surprise View; Hawse End where you can begin the gentle climb of Catbells; or Lordore where you can marvel at the tumbling falls. Summit the top of Skiddaw for panoramic views and a terrific picnic spot, or on rainy days, visit the attractions close to home. The Derwent Pencil Museum, the Puzzling Place and beautiful local cinema are all within a mile of your door, great for entertaining little ones and for keeping yourselves amused when you’re all adventured out. Sleeping four across two bedrooms this is a great destination for small families, friends and couples.

Make your way inside this former miner's cottage through the stable door and into the kitchen. Pop the kettle on for a welcoming mug of something warm and admire the space in which you can cook up a storm to feed fellow guests. With views out to the courtyard and fresh, charming style, enjoy spending time preparing meals before taking a rest in the lounge. Sharing its space with the dining area, this lovely room boasts exposed beams and an open fire which promises to warm you and your four-legged friend up after adventures. Brimming with charm and character, settle down for a quiet moment on the welcoming corner sofa or choose to sit in the armchair and switch on the TV to relax. If you fancy livening things up, unbox a board game and challenge family and friends to a competitive evening. Dine in style at the table which comfortably seats all guests so you can enjoy communal meals. After dinner, head to bed in one of two first-floor bedrooms. Wind your way up the spiral staircase or take the external set of stairs into the double bedroom for an alternative route. Both bedrooms have storage space so you can pack away your clothes and make yourself at home, and both are lovely, tranquil rooms in which to rest your head. Completing the first floor is the family shower room, in addition to the shower room on the ground floor. Wake in the morning and freshen up with ease before heading out to explore.

Take your morning coffee outside to start your day with a warming sip in the fresh air. This area is enclosed but may not be secure for more agile or determined dogs. Make use of the lockable storage cupboard which is great for storing muddy boots, leads and balls. There is off-road parking for one car.

Lovely cosy cottage, snug beds, within very easy walking distance of Keswick and it has the benefit of parking. I have stayed before, in 2017 and the standards are just as high in 2024.

Felt like it needed a good clean, lots of cobwebs, carpets were a bit dirty. Sofas grubby. Bedding kept coming off the beds to expose mattresses. Location excellent so we overlooked other issues

A lovely little cottage with the added bonuses of two shower rooms, a small outside space to enjoy the weather (if you were lucky like us!) and car parking. Ideal location for all of Keswicks amenities and an excellent base for hill walking.

Cottage was lovely and had perfect location however the holiday was slightly ruined by the broken bed in the master bedroom which squeaked loudly with any slight movement. This bed needs replacing as you have 0 privacy and keeps you awake at night.

We stayed at 15 The Plosh over new year 23/24. We loved its proximity to the lake and the town with so much to do from the door. We had everything we needed in the house. What a delightful little cottage in the most perfect location. A 1 minute walk from the front door into the heart of Keswick. Shops, pubs, restaurants, supermarkets - everything you could want. Easy access to lots of circular walks from your front door. Comfy, cosy with great character. Although small, it didn't feel crowded, even with 2 teenage soRead morens.
