Great for families, this attractive home blends traditional character with modern interiors and benefits from a central location in the heart of popular Braithwaite.

If you fancy a day of summit-topping, Barrow (1.5 miles), Causey Pike (2 miles) and Grisedale Pike (2.5 miles) offer panoramic views and lie close to home. Reward your efforts with a meal in a local pub or at the hotel next door and enjoy a night away from the kitchen. A 2.5-mile trip takes you to the vibrant market town of Keswick, where museums, a swimming pool and The Puzzling Place will keep little ones entertained and are perfect rainy-day activities. Here, you can also enjoy a night at the Theatre by the Lake, or board a boat on Derwentwater and explore the lakeside villages and viewpoints.

Make your way inside via the back of the cottage and find yourself in the stylish kitchen/diner. With a sleek, contemporary feel, the kitchen has a fan oven, gas hobs, built-in fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Enjoy sociable meals at the table, which comfortably seats four but can extend to seat all six guests. After dinner, the lounge is the perfect place to curl up on the sofa or armchair, and the wood burner will keep you toasty before bed. Upstairs, three bedrooms are decorated in relaxing tones and have sloping ceilings with exposed beams. The first double enjoys views over Braithwaite towards majestic fells; the second double has a pretty, ornamental fireplace and lovely views; the sweet twin bedroom is ideal for children. The bedrooms share the family bathroom with a shower over jacuzzi bath and a WC.

There is parking for one car on the road at the side of the house. For additional cars, there is on-street parking in the village. Guests are asked not to park in the side lane at any time.

We had a lovely stay at Orchard Cottage. The cottage is beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Ideally situated in the lovely village of Braithwaite with lots of good local walks, and pubs, shop, cafes and restaurants all within walking distance. Whilst there is only parking for one car at the property it was never a problem finRead moreding a parking space for our second vehicle in and around the village. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property and the surrounding area. Hide

A lovely cottage in a great location. We enjoyed a lovely meal at The Royal Oak across the road. Another night we walked up to the Coledale Inn fir a drink. We had everything we needed and we made good use of the kitchen for cooking meals. The bedrooms were lovely and beds comfy. The spa bath was welcome after a long day walking. This is a good centrally located house in a lovely village with three good pubs on hand and a hotel next door we didn't use this time but know that it too has good food. The village shop is really close and well stocked. There are great bus routes from Braithwaite allowing cheap exploration of the lakes as well as good walks from the front door.

Fabulous cottage in a fantastic location. Plenty of fabulous walks from the doorstep, we were spoilt for choice. Enjoyed meals & drinks at the dog friendly Royal Oak & Coledale inn. Comfortable cottage with superb location for accessing local fells and short drive to Keswick. Very limited parking but plenty of street parking nearby. No private garden so for a family with a dog it meant always having to take him out on a lead. Otherwise we very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage

Orchard Cottage is very comfortable, decently equipped and in a great location for exploring Braithwaite, Keswick and the Northern Lakes. It would have been nice to have been able to take advantage a bit more but the weather decided it was going to rain a lot for the weekend we were there... at least the pubs provided some shelter, and can thoroughRead morely recommend the revamped Middle Ruddings for food (and beer), but would give the Coledale Inn a miss for food (good beer though!). Great location for the (very nice) restaurant and the (equally nice) pub which are both literally seconds away. The tight parking, the lack of a garden, the proximity to the slightly noisy restaurant kitchen and the single bathroom/toilet are all negatives, but not overly so, and the price reflects these.
