Your fantastic position in the western Lake District means there is plenty to explore. Head 4 miles to the heart of Keswick and board a boat across Derwentwater, hire a canoe and do the hard work yourself, or take it easy and visit one of many delicious restaurants for a treat. There are also some great places to spend time on rainy days in Keswick including, The Puzzling Place, The Pencil Museum and the cinema, all of which are within 4.5 miles of home. A 3.5-mile journey will take you into the heart of the Whinlatter Forest Park where you can hire and ride bikes along the many tracks and trails whilst keeping your eyes peeled for osprey.

Access via the rear door where there is a handy large porch great for all your muddy boats and leads. Walk through to the bright kitchen/diner which has fiews to Skiddaw where you can find a double oven and ceramic hobs, a slimline dishwasher, microwave, and a built-in fridge/freezer. Prepare a feast before plating up at the table and switching on the speaker to listen to music whilst you dine. From the hallway, make your way into the lounge where you can sit back and relax. Stay warm by the open fire and enjoy evenings in front of the Smart TV. Large windows flood the space with light and offer spectacular views of the fells. Two bedrooms reside on the ground floor in addition to the family bathroom. The king-size bedroom has lovely views and the twin is a cosy and calming room. The family bathroom has an electric shower over the bath and WC. Find the remaining bedroom on the lower ground floor, access either via a stair-gated hatch and steep ladder-style staircase, or through French doors from outside. With more mountain views and an en-suite shower room with WC, this king-size bedroom is great for those after some peace and quiet. The lower ground floor is also home to a snug area with TV and French doors and a utility room where there is a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

Rise and shine and take your tea or coffee outside to the enclosed garden with fell views and furniture for taking a seat. Bask in the heat on sunny days or wrap up warm and enjoy the crisp air on chilly days. There is off-road parking for two cars on the gated driveway.

Wonderful cottage in the best location! Had everything we needed and was comfortable. Views were amazing! Walks directly from the door into Whinlatter Forest. Saw red squirrels several times and saw some some deer.Even saw the Northern Lights when we were there.

Great accommodation with spectacular views. Access from the downstairs room through the hatch gave us a giggle! Ideal location for exploring that part of the Lakes. Good bus service to Keswick and lovely walks straight from the door.

Quirky layout which worked very well. Stunning views (we were even lucky enough to see the top of Skiddaw!), lovely outside space, well equipped (although more loo roll and salt and pepper would be good!), great location and an all round excellent choice. Dont miss the walk up to Whinlatter from the doorstep as its beautiful. And the art gallery isRead more worth a visit too. Hide

Lovely welcoming and comfortable cottage. Great, quiet location with spectacular views. Ideal base for exploring all of the Lake District. We had the added benefit of a week of amazing weather too. We hope to come back again

Lovely, really well equipped cottage. If you are visiting with a baby/toddler please check that the equipment (high chair) is available. Sally's cottages responded quickly to our request to resolve the lack of high chair. Close to lovely places and strenuous walk very close by - great for the dog. Very good value for money

We had a fantastic stay here at Firbank and none of us wanted to leave. The views from the cottage are spectacular and I will never tire from them. The cottage was spacious and clean, and is in a very quiet location. There are plenty of beautiful walks from the house, and the house is on a bus route which is extremely handy. Thornthwaite Gallery anRead mored Tea room is just across the road and there are three pubs/restaurants in the neighbouring village of Braithwaite. A fantastic week! Hide

Lovely stay . The views from kitchen and lounge are outstanding. The place is very homely and I would stay again . Clean and comfy. Amusing bedtime access to lower room. The ladder is only suitable for the very able . Nice quiet village and walks without getting a car out

A good family house. Note the downstairs bedroom and sitting room is accessible via vertical ladder, or outside via sliding french doors. Comfortable beds and adequately provided for. We enjoyed our stay.

Thanks for a great cottage. Well equipped, clean and comfortable. There is a peace in the lounge with fantastic big windows to stare at Skiddaw. Our daughter loved her own en-suite room in the basement too.

Cottage very comfortable and well equipped. I liked the separate bedroom through the hatch as we were two families and it gave us the occasional break. I would say the nearest pub and shop were more than a mile away despite it being the filter I used but we managed.

This simple cottage is well equipped and perfect for a holiday in the Lakes. It has amazing views from the upstairs rooms and you can watch the mist clear off the mountains each day. Just a ten minute drive to Keswick with walks from the door and the Gallery and cafe conveniently located next door it's the perfect place to stay. Put some safety notices around the inside entrance hatch to the master bedroom, and describe you property correctly so that your renters know what they are getting for their money, because no one wants to walk half way round the house at bedtime.
