Set in the thriving market town of Keswick, this holiday home is perfectly placed for sporty guests and families who enjoy heritage attractions and stunning natural landscapes. Head for Keswick marina (0.5 miles) and cruise Derwentwater, or circle the perimeter on a 10-mile wildlife trail through wooded areas where you may encounter curious wildlife. For loftier hikes, try Skiddaw (4 miles), one of England’s highest mountains. On rest days, Keswick is packed with family-fun from the Theatre by the Lake and the town cinema to the interesting museums. Don’t miss the intriguing Castlerigg Stone Circle (1.5 miles), and stately Mirehouse on Bassenthwaite (5 miles). Or further afield, take a day trip to coastal Maryport 21 miles).
Enter the gated garden courtyard (which has shared access with the neighbouring property), and step up into the house, where you’ll find the charming galley kitchen, well-equipped for those home-cooked holiday feasts. You’ll find an electric oven with gas hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, a larder cupboard with a wine rack, and a convenient washer/dryer. As you walk through to the dining and living room, admire the contemporary-style interiors decorated in gentle warm hues and contemporary wall art, harmonising with the cottage’s period ambience with original windows, and an wood burner set into a beautiful stone surround. Dine around the table, then sink into the sofas and enjoy family film nights together around the Smart TV with Freeview and DVD player. When sleep calls, head upstairs to find a king-size bedroom and a spacious twin bedroom, both with ample storage and idyllic views over a church spire. A family bathroom featuring a recessed bathtub and a separate walk-in shower completes the accommodation.
Outside, there’s a courtyard garden with stone paving surrounded by plants and decorative features, plus dining furniture - ideal for al fresco evenings under the stars. You can lock your bikes here too, but please provide your own lock. There’s a car park within half a mile of the property (parking permit supplied), plus a variety of pubs, shops, and eateries to enjoy.
