Benefiting from a prime location in the Matterdale area, this property makes the ideal base for anyone hoping to experience the unrivalled beauty of Cumbria’s countryside. Wander down to the magical Aira Force Waterfall (5 miles) or simply enjoy a wander around the body of Ullswater (3 miles). Alternatively, those less keen on walking might prefer a tour of the lake on one of its steamers or a bike ride along one of the bridleways accessible from home. A trip to the nearby Rookin House Farm (4 miles) promises thrilling activities including archery and pony trekking, whilst those hoping to tackle the Lakeland’s world-famous mountains will find Helvellyn (10.5 miles) and Blencathra (9 miles) close to home.

On arrival, head up via the external staircase and let yourself into this charming accommodation. You’ll first find a handy porch space with hanging space and an electric boot dryer, perfect for when you have been walking in wet or muddy weather. Unwinding, dining and preparing meals can be done in one open-plan living space once inside. The jewel of this room is its delightful picture window with far-reaching views of nearby fells along with the area’s vibrant wildlife. Sink into the sofas for a cosy evening in, read a book book, watch a DVD or your favourite programme on TV. There is an electric fire for chilly evenings. Completing this room is the compact but functional kitchen with oven, hob, microwave and fridge with freezer compartment. Also on the ground floor is the generous king-size bedroom, a lovingly presented space with a calm and neutral décor. Finally, a bright bathroom with WC and shower-over-bath concludes the space’s offering.

Step outside and enjoy private use of an elevated terrace, an excellent space with table and chairs for two. There is an off-road parking spot for two cars.

Greenbarn lies in a very tranquil setting. It is so welcoming after the busier walks. The feature window offers superb views across to Great Mell Fell and parts of the Helvellyn range, as well as the local fauna. I totally understand why guests revisit Greenbarn. Thank you.
