Sleeping three guests, this romantic retreat lies in the ‘adventure capital of the Lake District’. Stroll into the town centre, less than half a mile away, and source delicious food produce for evening meals. Browse the independent shops and soak up the local arts at the Keswick heritage museum, the Derwent Pencil Museum, the art-house cinema, and the Theatre by the Lake (1 mile). Learn how to paddleboard, canoe or sail at Derwentwater Marina (2.5 miles). Hike the surrounding fells and northern lakes, dine in a variety of restaurants, and enjoy a cruise on Derwentwater (1 mile). Further afield, discover Wordsworth’s romantic cottage garden in Grasmere (12.5 miles), or The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness-on-Windermere (21.5 miles).

Take three steps up to the front door of this charming country-style cottage with traditional interiors. Curl up with a good book on the living-room sofa under the high ceiling, or the snuggly sofa by the wood effect electric fire, and enjoy a great read. The bright and airy double bedroom has an ornamental fireplace, high ceilings, and ample storage space, while the single bedroom has a chest of drawers, mirror and table, and beautiful views of the garden and fells – there’s also a portable bed guard available for this bedroom, making it suitable for younger children.

Had a lovely time. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and in a great location with short walk into town. Nice to be able to park outside, if a little of a tight squeeze. Definitely hope to come back.

We really enjoyed our stay at Rose cottage in December 2023. This cottage is excellent if you are traveling without a car as it is only 5 minute walk from bus stop and city centre. The cottage is stocked with plenty of kitchen ware. We loved it because of the location and price. The owner gave us a letter which we appreciated. Rose cottage was warm and cosy in November, in fact, we turned the radiators down in the bedrooms we used. It is ideally located for walking into Keswick centre, the cafe at the theatre by the lake (our favourite lunchtime eatery), and, of course, the lake. For the fit walker, you dont really need to drive anywhere; hills, lake, cafs, restaurants, Read moreshops; theyre all there. Parking outside Rose cottage is little awkward - a fine balance between blocking access to the cottage or the lane. Hide

Rose cottage is warm and in a really good location. We were able to park in the marked space outside. The shared garden is small but helpful with a dog. The cottage is quite dated in style. We would be happy to stay again but it would not be our first choice.

Parking can be a bit of a problem as the cottage is the middle of three and you need to park really close to the front door.

The cottage is fine, cosy and warm, but you DO NOT have a parking space and you will have to spend time finding somewhere local to park up. The lane is very noisy and if you do get parked outside, you will be blocked in by tradesmen.
