Spacious barn conversion in the peaceful Duddon Valley, with easy access to relaxing local walks as well as Lake District gems such as Coniston Water, Grizedale Forest and Windermere.

The property is located in the unspoilt Duddon Valley, a quiet corner of the Lake District. This is the perfect retreat if you want to experience the magic of Cumbria without the crowds. The barn sleeps six guests and boasts spectacular views over meadows and fells. Head to the tiny village of Seathwaite (6 miles) for a relaxing walk along the river or enjoy magnificent views from the top of Caw Fell. The charming town of Broughton-in-Furness (1 mile) has a fascinating history as well as some fantastic eateries serving local produce. Coniston Water (13 miles) makes a wonderful day out. Stroll along the water’s edge, climb the Old Man of Coniston and ride on the Steam Yacht Gondola.

This stylish, semi-detached converted barn is full of little touches to make your stay extra special, including plush soft furnishings, high-spec appliances, and quirky furniture. Enter the property into the impressive double-height conservatory. This is a lovely, sunny spot to unwind on a lazy afternoon, admiring the splendid views towards the Grizebeck fells. You’ll also find handy coat hooks and shoe storage in here. From the conservatory, head into the bright and airy kitchen, which is equipped with a double oven, gas hob, microwave and dishwasher. There’s also a washing machine/dryer to deal with any muddy walking gear. In the kitchen, discover a unique breakfast bar inspired by bicycles; the perfect spot to sit with a coffee and peruse the map on the wall to inspire your next adventure. At the heart of the home is the large, open-plan lounge/diner. The room is decorated in calming, neutral tones and has two comfy sofas, as well as a revolving ‘snuggle’ chair, arranged around the cosy wood burner. Curl up here at the end of the day to watch your favourite film on the Smart TV/DVD. At the opposite end of the room is a contemporary dining table, with seating for everyone, as well as extra seating in the form of a leather corner sofa. Completing the ground floor is a separate WC and a useful utility cupboard. Ascend the corner staircase to the first floor, where there are three tasteful bedrooms. The first is a king-size, with glorious views out over the meadows. The second is a cosy double, and the final bedroom is a twin with stairs leading to a Velux window with fabulous views towards the estuary. The stylish family bathroom has a large bath, shower and WC.

Outside, the property has two lawns – one to the front and one to the rear. The garden to the rear is enclosed and has outdoor furniture for an al fresco aperitif on warm summer evenings. There is off-road parking for three cars next to the property.

The property was nice and spacious. There were a few minor issues, however, we reported these and they were dealt with promptly. I also had a fall in the property resulting in some damage, but I received a great response from the team at holidaycottages.co.uk, ensuring I was OK before then arranging for the damage to be fixed the same day. The addiRead moretion of use of the garage and drying lines within was a big plus as the property is within 45 mins of 3 lakes, rivers and the beach. Hide

We had a very enjoyable week at meadow barn. The accommodation is spacious, well maintained and very clean. In particular, the beds are extremely comfortable and the shower is amazing! If you are considering this property it is worth reading through the reviews (we always do) as you often find out things not mentioned in the description of the propRead moreerty. It is close to quite a busy road and other properties so the outside space isn't very private. Still a great place to stay, would recommend. Hide

A fantastic place to spend a week. The cottage is really well equipped, comfy and tidy and is set in a lovely, quiet location with a beautiful outlook onto the fields. Homely and very well equipped cottage not far from Coniston, Ambleside etc. Despite a visit from storm Agnes, we enjoyed our time in the lakes and that was made so by having a lovely base to return to each night!
