Property code: SZ178

Less than a mile from the banks of Ullswater, treat guests and your dog to a trip on an Ullswater Steamer and explore all that the lake has to offer. Hop off at Aira Force (3.5 miles) and visit the waterfall or head all the way to the northern tip of the water at Pooley Bridge (8.5 miles). If you fancy trying your hand at being in charge, make a splash and hire your own boat or canoe, dip into a cove for the perfect picnic spot and a day to remember. Reward the day’s activities or treat yourselves to a night off from the kitchen at one of Glenridding’s many eateries, some with magnificent views over the water.

Admire the character of this pretty cottage as soon as you arrive and head inside to unpack. Find yourself in the open-plan lounge/diner which is a brilliantly bright space boasting marvellous views through the large window. Throw a log on the wood burner and fire it up as you sit on the sofa with a good book or watch TV. A lovely space in which to rustle up a delicious feast, the kitchen has room for more than one chef to get involved and is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, a breakfast bar and a larder. The larder houses the washing machine and full-size fridge/freezer in addition to providing lots of storage space. Serve up your masterpiece at the table in the lounge and raise a glass before heading upstairs to rest weary heads. Climb the open-tread stairs to find both bedrooms. Decorated in light, tranquil tones with plenty of natural light, both the king-size and the twin are lovely places in which to drift off. After rising and shining and admiring the views, head into the family bathroom with WC to freshen up for the day with a soak in the bath or a shower.

Take your morning brew outside and start the day with an al fresco breakfast if the morning is light and warm in the small garden area to the front of the property. Close to the parking space at the end of the terrace, find the stone outbuilding where you can store bikes if you’re planning to explore on two wheels.

We could only get away for a short stay but the cottage was perfect for us. All the equipment that we could possibly need was provided. The views to the front are stunning and we enjoyed the walk into village which was a leisurely 15 minutes away .. but takes longer uphill on the way back! We tried both of the pubs. The Ullswater Inn was the busiesRead moret but we were disappointed with the food. The Travellers Rest is only a stones throw from the cottage and really small with friendly staff. Hide

Fantastic location for the fells and Glenridding. Very clean and comfy. The cottage was a great retreat after days out in very chilly (but enjoyable) conditions on Helvellyn and surrounding hills.

The cottage is in a fabulous location with amazing views, especially from the front bedroom. It is compact but provides all the amenities needed inside. Unfortunately, there is no private garden area which was anticipated.

Great location on the hillside above Glenridding. House comfortable, well equipped and very quiet as there is little passing traffic. Lovely cottage in a quiet spot just outside Glenridding on the way up towards Helvellyn (or more accurately Glenridding Dodd I guess). Also, handy for the Travellers Rest pub, which is a nice, traditional pub that hasn't been tarted up like the rest of the pubs in the village. This cottage was really lovely, great layout, lovely location and comfortable. It shouldnt however be advertised as having an enclosed garden as it did not. Having a dog, we specifically picked this cottage as it said the garden was enclosed. As the garden at the front and the wall is all that separates the house from the road it meant putting our Read moredog on the lead each time she needed to go out.
