A spacious Lakeland retreat, overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake, with spacious accommodation and delightful gardens, close to the shore and 4 miles from Keswick.

Take your friends and family to this sizeable four-bedroom holiday home, which sleeps eight, near the village of Thornthwaite, for your Lake District stay. Stroll less than 200m down to Bassenthwaite Lake to walk by the water, watch for wildlife and even take a dip. Wander further into nearby Whinlatter Forest Park or drive 4 miles to reach it by car. Go mountain biking, attempt the high ropes and take part in other activities here. Venture 4 miles into Keswick to amble round its shops and dine out. Book a cruise out on Derwentwater from here or head to Portinscale, 3 miles from the cottage, to hire your own boat or to have a go at paddle-boarding or canoeing.

Gaze out at the spectacular views from this welcoming holiday home. Step inside to find ample accommodation that makes the most of its stunning position. Take in the sweeping vistas from the sunroom, with its picture windows and double-sided wood burner, or make your way into the lounge/diner, where you can also bask in the heat of the stove and settle down in front of the TV with Freeview. The kitchen/diner is two steps up from the lounge and has everything you will need for your holiday feasts, including two electric ovens, an electric grill and five gas hobs, a large fridge/freezer, a dishwasher and a washer/dryer. Younger members of your group might enjoy spending their time in the games room, which has table football and plenty of other activities to enjoy. There is a shower room, with handbasin and WC, at ground-floor level. Make your way upstairs to discover the bedrooms. One of these has a super-king-size bed and en-suite bathroom, with bath with shower above, handbasin and WC. There is also a double bedroom; a twin room that can be arranged as a super-king on request; a super-king that can become a twin if discussed in advance. A family shower room, with handbasin and WC can also be found on this floor.

Spill out into the leafy garden whenever the weather is fine. Dine outside overlooking the magnificent views towards Bassenthwaite Lake. There is a handy shed for bicycles and other outdoor equipment. Parking for three vehicles is available at the property.

Very good position for walking, with some good walks from the door. The view from the back of the house was lovely.

Overall a great holiday cottage. Really clean and comfortable with fantastic views in a lovely area. Would definitely consider going back there.

The house was ideal. A proper 8 bed house with a sociable downstairs, a good range of bedrooms and stunning views. It is also in an ideal location with the Lakes easily accessible but a quiet base. The cottage is surprisingly large. It does not show well in the pictures as it looks small. There is a good deal of space. It is well appointed except for the kitchen knives that need replaced or machine sharpened. It is a very comfortable place to stay...we had a lovely time.

The cottage was a great base to explore the Lakes. It was well equipped and had lots of seating areas to relax at the end of the day. The beds were very comfortable and clean. Although towels were stated as not provided, hand towels, & tea towels were, which was great. Generous parking area which really could take 4 cars if needed.

What a gorgeous stay at this cottage! One of the most beautiful settings Ive ever stayed at! A few things to take account of! The size of the entrance to the drive, so not take big cars they simply wont fit! Also lots of steps in the house that are sometimes hard to see. We absolutely loved the property and the spaciousness of every room. All the bedrooms were lovely and with great views. The garden room was particularly nice, as was the outdoor area which would be fantastic during the summer. The superb views of the Skiddaw range make this house, which is in a good location a short drive away from Braithwaite village. There is a good range of kitchen equipment and plenty of crockery/glasses to go around.
