This charming and characterful cottage boasts original features and is ideally located for couples/families who want to discover the Northern Lakes and a wealth of adrenaline-filled activities.

Located in the north of the Lake District, in the quaint village of Uldale, this delightful property offers guests a tranquil and restful stay. The village boasts a tea room, children's playground and Tennis Court. The area is known as Back O’Skiddaw, and from here you can venture up Skiddaw itself. Or perhaps try a gentler climb to the top of Binsey, Little Cockup or Great Calva – all of which afford stunning views from their distinctive smooth, grassy tops. Despite its seclusion, the cottage is not far from popular Bassenthwaite Lake and its nesting ospreys, as well as the Orient Express train at Bassenthwaite Lake Station, and the local gin distillery. Animal-loving families will have great fun at the Lake District Wildlife Park, just down the road. Keswick is a short, scenic drive away and has a lovely high street with shops, restaurants, and museums, as well as a wealth of outdoor activities. The cottage is approximately a mile from the nearest pub in Ireby.

Sympathetically renovated, this charming property boasts comfort and character throughout. Exposed beams and stonework reflect the cottage’s history, whilst modern fixtures and fittings add comfort. The cosy lounge has sofas centred around a wood burner, so whether you’re watching the Smart TV or warming your toes in front of the fire, you’ll soon feel at home. The kitchen/diner is a spacious and lovely room, with a French shaker-style kitchen adding style and character and a dining table seating four. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms: a king-size and a twin. Both have vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, creating light and space. Completing the accommodation is a family shower room.

Outside, there is a seating area including a quirky hand made bench and a BBQ for al fresco meals in the evening sun. There is also a shed and a covered area for storing bikes - the National Cycle Route 10 passes nearby. Parking is available in the village.

Beautiful, cosy, peaceful and well equipped home from home. Would highly recommend. Lovely area, with no phone signal, which for us was perfect. Good WiFi in house. Amazing tearoom 200 yards up the road but the local pub was closed, could have been due to being out of season. Nearest pub, the black lion in Ireby was 1 an half mile away and had a loRead morevely roaring fire, was friendly and welcoming with tasty homemade food at reasonable prices. Again would highly recommend.. Hide

Absolutely wonderful stay at Barrony Cottage. Well equipped, we wanted for nothing. The fire was a highlight - my husband absolutely loved it. Beautiful bedrooms. We had an issue with the shower during our stay and the owners were absolutely fantastic, responding quickly and sorting a fix fast. Had some lovely days out and meals in the local area -Read more was brilliantly placed for accessing the lakes. The best part was the cows that walk past in the morning - my daughter waited by the window for them Hide

The cottage is nicely positioned in a quiet village near the tea room/gallery which was excellent. The accommodation was clean and comfortable with exposed beams. There are walking options from the door to the Cumbria Way and plenty of other walks a short drive away. I can also recommend the Black Lion in Ireby for eating out.

Lovely cosy cottage and fairly well equipped. Just needed matches and more hand soap. Location great for Skiddaw, Keswick and Whinlatter Forest. Enjoyed the log burner. Nice modern interior with period features. It was nice chatting to and helping Johnny, the farmer, and his wife milk the cows. Very friendly villagers. Snooty Fox very underwhelmingRead more. Owner a little strange and the food was very overpriced for what it is. Can recommend the Sun Inn at Bassenthwaite and Maes Tea Rooms, also. Hide
