The property is opposite a family-friendly local pub, which offers hearty food beside a roaring open fire. The surrounding area has a wealth of walking routes through the Eden Valley, including at Lowther Castle (2 miles), which also boasts a delightful play area and cafe. Climb to the summit of Askham Fell (3 miles) for stunning views over Ullswater or head down to the water to ride on one of the iconic steamers. Just 5 miles away is the charming market town of Penrith, with its cobbled lanes and wide variety of independent shops.

The stylish cottage has been thoughtfully decorated, carefully combining contemporary design with rustic original features. At the heart of the home is a super cosy lounge, with fabulous sofas to sink into, an exposed beam running across the ceiling and a crackling wood burner set in an elegant ornamental fireplace. Relax here in front of the TV or snuggle up in the window seat with your favourite book. The beautiful farmhouse-style kitchen is a real treat to cook in, with a range-style oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and impressive Belfast sink overlooking the garden. There’s also a table for four where you can sip your morning coffee or perch with a glass of wine whilst the dinner is being prepared. This space is perfect for storing all your walking gear and houses a washing machine and tumble dryer. In here you’ll also find a shower room with WC. Stairs lead to the first floor, where you’ll discover the four magnificent bedrooms, all tastefully decorated in cool tones, with quirky original features and stylish accessories. There is a king-size bedroom, double bedroom and two twin rooms. The bathroom with a WC on this floor is fabulous and the perfect place to indulge in a little pampering after a long walk. Good cottage for a weeks sewing/crochet retreat . Plenty of room for 3/5 .would have been a bit cramped with more adults. Good location for accessing Penrith, Ullswater. Parking an issue unless you have a tiny car.

Great location - well equipped. Cosy place. Take eye masks as blinds aren't very dark. Front bedrooms on a main road so if noise sensitive take earplugs. We had a great stay and enjoyed our weekend.

We had a lovely stay at this cottage while we attended a wedding at Long Acre Barn, which was a short car ride away. The cottage was extremely well equipped and comfortable for 4 couples and a baby. With it being an older property the floorboards are a little noisy in some of the rooms but this didn't prove much of a problem. Thanks for a lovely stRead moreay! Hide

We really enjoyed our stay at Lloyd Cottage. It's very easy to get to from Penrith, spacious and comfortable. We had no issues sleeping and feeding seven adults - the dishwasher was particularly useful in that regard! The tumble dryer is also very helpful if you've been on a damp walk, and the large utility room more generally is very handy for getRead moreting kitted up and down before and after walks. Hide

Nice building and lovely outdoor area at the back for sitting in the evening However the rooms were very bright as there are no curtains and this made it difficult to sleep in the mornings.

The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed to have a home from home stay. A little close to the main road for our liking and the driveway is not ideal for low cars like ours but there is ample parking across the road at the pub car park.
