Boasting an unbeatable location for experiencing the area’s namesake lakes, this cottage sits 0.5 miles from the banks of Ullswater with waterfront walking routes, the chance to ride the lake steamer or rent a boat close by. The property also sits close to the towering mountain of Helvellyn (4 miles), a challenging walk with rewarding views at its summit, and the stunning Aira Force Waterfall (3 miles) that’s well deserving of a visit.

Well equipped, clean and modern. It was a pleasure to stay, and the scenery and walks are stunning. We found the parking space a great asset to have and I can imagine the enclosed back yard being very pleasurable in summer months.

A lovely cottage inside and out, and, in an amazing position in the centre of the village, very handy for pubs and cafes and of course the lake. We will definitely be back!

The cottage made an excellent base for a weeks walking. Tonkin Cottage is in a beautiful setting with a perfect location for accessing the trails. It's within walking distance to restaurants, pubs, 2 food marts and the bus stop. The updated ottage is clean and comfortable with a modern kitchen and bathroom. We were pleasantly surprised that the cottage provided many basic needs such as hand soap, laundrRead morey detergent, dishwasher tablets and cooking supplies. The stairs are slightly steep but not a problem. We would love to return. Hide

Great location. We had a wonderful holiday. Cottage is small but perfect for a couple or young family. New kitchen with everything needed but with great places to eat in the area we didn't use it very much. Would be nice to have a second settee for everyone to relax in the evening.

Cottage is conveniently located for lots of great walks. Nice cottage for 2 people. Good pubs nearby. We spent Christmas at the cottage - wished I had noted that it wasnt being decorated for the season as that would have put the finishing touches on our break (for us). Only negative is the parking access is very tight if you have a large car, we scRead moreraped our car on a nail protruding from the fence, so care needed when parking. Hide
