Upstairs, there’s a family bathroom and two bright and peaceful bedrooms: a charming twin room, and a king-size room with exposed beams and a low window, which is reached via three steps. Under the house and accessed via its own entrance, there’s a fantastic snug/games room with table football, perfect for kids to get away from the adults. Outside, there’s a shared courtyard where you can enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.
The Whitbeck flows through the village and past the cottage, offering a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the views, and there’s a perfect spot for braver guests to take a dip. High Lorton also has a restaurant, pub and fishery, and is within easy reach of both Cockermouth (4.5 miles) and Keswick (8 miles). Also nearby are Whinlatter Forest Park, Bassenthwaite Lake, Derwentwater, Buttermere and Crummock Water (all within 8 miles).
