  • Relax in front of the open fire in the spacious lounge after a day exploring
  • Ideal location for exploring the Solway coast and the northern Lake District
Property code: 89139

Situated on a working farm in a pretty, rural location but within easy reach of local amenities in the town of Aspatria, this property is an ideal base for exploring both the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the northern parts of the Lake District National Park. The coastal town of Allonby is 6 miles, known for its 5-mile beach and breathtaking coastal walks. The area has several beautiful beaches and a number of excellent golf courses. Heading inland, Cockermouth (9 miles) is the birthplace of William Wordsworth and marks an entry point into the Lake District, with Bassenthwaite Lake within easy reach (11 miles). Keswick, situated between the huge mass of Skiddaw and the gentle beauty of Derwentwater, is only 15 miles ( a 30 min scenic drive). Keswick offers a range of pubs, restaurants and cafes with a good selection of independent shops to browse. There are also beautiful forest walks in Dodd Wood, 12 miles and Whinlatter Forest, 15 miles, which offers stunning views, fantastic walks, exhilarating mountain biking, rare wildlife and adventure play.

Enter the property from the garden through the conservatory/sun lounge; there are three steps up to the entrance. This room has great views across the fells and the garden. With comfortable seating, it offers a great place to switch off with a good book. Head through the French doors into the spacious lounge, which is a great place to catch up and enjoy a board game. Or maybe relax after a day out exploring and watch a good movie on the Smart TV whilst curled up in front of the open fire. Through from the lounge, there is a large farmhouse-style kitchen; the oak units provide ample storage, and it is well equipped to prepare breakfast or a hearty evening meal. From the kitchen, you will find a useful utility room at the foot of the stairs off the hallway. The wide staircase leads you to the first floor where there is a family bathroom and three good-sized bedrooms. The king-size and double bedroom both have views of the fells and open countryside, there is also a pretty twin bedroom.

Outside there is an enclosed garden with lawn and raised patio with seating overlooking fields with resident sheep and cows. Springtime is a great time to watch the lambs playing.

Fab house, 20 mins to Lakes, Derwentwater and 10 minutes to coast. Lovely walk on the beach from Allonby to Silloth which is a great little seaside town. Would definitely return.
