The cottage is located in the pretty village of Pooley Bridge, which sits on the River Eamont close to beautiful Ullswater, and there are many country pubs serving good food and a variety of drinks nearby. Catch one of the famous steamers in the village and disembark at Aira Force to see the impressive waterfall. Head into Penrith, 6 miles away, to browse in independent shops and buy fresh produce in the farmers’ market. Lowther Castle is less than 5 miles away; the castle and gardens are a sight to behold and there is a fabulous adventure playground. Sailing, paddleboarding and horse trekking are all available in the local area.

Entering this Lakeland property through the pretty porch, guests first come to a hallway, off from which they will find the cosy and homely lounge. The open fire adds to the atmosphere of this room, where there is comfortable seating from which guests may like to watch the TV at the end of a busy day. At the back of the lounge is the dining room with a table and chairs to sit eight people. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, hob, two fridges, freezer, microwave and dishwasher, whilst the utility room, just off from the kitchen, is where guests will find a drying area and washing machine. Just before heading upstairs, you will find a cloakroom with WC. Upstairs, there are three wonderful bedrooms which are all decorated in a pretty cottage style, in keeping with the property. The main bedroom is a king-size with a single, whilst there is also a twin and a double bedroom. The property’s stylish bathroom, which is also located on the first floor, offers a separate shower and separate bath.

As we nearly always self cater, facilities and standards of accommodation are very important to us and this cottage is one of the best we have stayed in. Amazing. Our first visit to the property in Pooley Bridge and considering we visit Pooley Bridge at least twice a year, we are wondering how we never looked at this place before.
