Located on the edge of the Lake District National Park, this holiday cottage is the perfect base to explore the northern Lake District and Western Fells. This retreat is also set just 4 miles from the Georgian market town of Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth and home to an array of shops and eateries. The coastal town of Maryport is less than 3 miles away and boasts a sandy shingle beach, a Roman museum and a harbourside aquarium. There’s a fantastic choice of local distilleries and breweries where you can book tasting sessions and tours, or you can simply nip down the road to the village gastropub, serving great food and local ales. If you’re looking for something more adventurous, take up wild swimming in one of the surrounding lakes including Loweswater, Crummock Water and Bassenthwaite, all within 12 miles or try walking an alpaca or abseil nearly 40 metres into a disused quarry – these are just a few of the activities on offer locally!
This property has been refurbished to a high standard throughout. Entering the property from the back of the house, the entrance is through the conservatory which has built-in storage for storing your coats and shoes. You will then find yourself in the open-plan kitchen/dining room with a cosy wood burner located in the corner of the room. This room is bright and spacious and offers a great space to catch up over breakfast and make plans for the day ahead! There is a handy utility room off the kitchen with a washing machine, WC and sink. The lounge has a contemporary design with lots of windows flooding light into the room. There is a wood burner effect gas fire in this room which is ideal on a chilly evening if you want some instant heat. The modern staircase to the first floor with glass balustrade sits to the back of the lounge; head up to the first floor where you will discover two spacious bedrooms both with views over open countryside and the beck. The first bedroom at the top of the landing has a feature wood panelled wall with a Juliet-style balcony. On a nice evening, open the doors and listen to the running water or owls hoot and in the morning, or you may find yourself being woken by the resident donkeys in the nearby field! The second bedroom is across the landing and the family bathroom is at the end of the hallway with contemporary styling, built-in shelves at the end of the bath for storing your toiletries and towels, and modern black taps and shower with rain showerhead.
Outside, the patio area is a real suntrap, and there is seating to enjoy a morning coffee or al fresco dining. There is also additional gardens next to the property where dogs can have a run and you can enjoy the peace and wildlife
