Less than 13 miles away is William Wordsworth’s birthplace, Cockermouth, a pretty town with a great selection of independent shops, restaurants, and supermarkets. Beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake is 12 miles away, where you can visit the open-air theatre at Mirehouse or take a walk around the path which runs the length of the west shore.

This spacious former schoolhouse has lots of character and charm. As you enter the tiled lobby/boot room, you will find lots of storage for walking boots and jackets. There is a useful shower room off the lobby which is ideal if you come in from a run, bike ride or muddy dog walk. As you head into the property you will find a cosy snug with a sofa and a wood burner, offering the perfect spot to curl up with a good book. Off the snug, walk down the hallway to find the country-style kitchen to your right and a dining room with exposed stone walls and access out into the garden. Across from the kitchen is the lounge which offers a lovely relaxing space with comfortable sofas, a feature fire and dual views towards the coast and over the open fields. Head down the hallway back into the snug and you will find a ground-floor super king-size bedroom, as well as the games room with its pool table. There are stairs to the first floor from either the snug or from the hallway between the lounge and kitchen. The property offers so much space, you can easily find a quiet corner to escape from the group if you want to enjoy some time away. The first floor has six bedrooms, they are all styled individually and two have en-suite shower rooms. A lovely spacious house with plenty of outside space too. Very well equipped for a large number of people and very comfortable beds. However, while the lounge was comfortable there wasn't sufficient seats for everyone to be together. Luckily we had children with us so they were happy not to sit in there.

Great holiday home for groups and large families. Plenty of living spaces to get together. We particularly liked the dining space and having a piano in the games room was a bonus. It was winter so we didnt manage to take advantage of the outdoor space other than the hottub which was lovely. We recommend.

House was stunning, facilities were amazing, communication was great, location was beautiful. This house had everything we needed for 16 (8 adults and 8 children) to spend a fantastic weekend together (for the first time in nearly 10 years). It was beautifully decorated for Christmas, and we really appreciated the high quality kitchen equipment (whRead moreich is usually lacking in many holiday cottages). Thank you for providing such a wonderful place for others to enjoy. Hide
